123 Amax in 6.5mm

Any knowledge of real difference vs. 120 amax, and anyone shot them in say a 260?

Accuracy vs. Lapua?

Looking at them for paper and hunting, not steel. Thanks.

I've shot them out of my 6.5 CM and they've been totally great so far. I wasn't willing to pay the price for 123 Scenars for 600 yards and under so the 123 AMax was a good compromise. The BC is better than their 120 offering so I don't see the point in running the 120s again. They should be pretty typical polymer tipped bullets with rather uniform BCs. I haven't shot the 123 AMax at 600 yet, just at 200 and they were quite good. They're half the price of Scenars, give them a try and you shouldn't be disappointed and you're not giving up much BC to the Scenar: .510 compared to the Scenar's .547. At 3100 FPS in my 8 twist they've been great.

15 Tango - I just got a couple of boxes of the 123s to try in my 6.5x47s - have had good 600yd accuracy out of both Lapua & Sierra 123s, but wanted something that would expand on coyotes. UPS just delivered 'em a couple of days ago, so I haven't had time to load any yet. Even with HBN coating, I don't expect to be able to drive the 123 AMaxes as fast as either of the other 123s, since the Hornadys have a longer bearing surface. Have you seen that, or is the difference in bearing surface length not enough to make much of a difference?

Dennis,

With the longer bearing surface it seems easier to get pressure and therefor velocity. That's what I've observed anyway.
