12 Guage slug load with Unique

I have a bunch of Unique powder, which I have successfully loaded a bunch.

My son is comming of age and wants go hunting in the Hoosier state where high powered rifles are not allowed.

He started talking about using my Henry 44 mag, necessitating the purchase of a semi-auto 12g slug master.

I cannot find load data for unigue and 1oz slug, I do not want to attempt to find another type of during this crisis.

any help would be appreciated

Unique's burn rate is to fast for Lee slugs, unless you want reduced loads. There is no data using plastic wads & Lee Key drive slug & Unique powder, that i know of? I worked up some Unique loads with 1 oz Lee Key Drive slugs. Acccuracy was poor. Pressure needs to be high enough to expand the slug to the bore.

In the load data from ballistic products for the sabot slugs I use there is load data for unique.

Lee and Lyman foster slugs will not bump up on firing. The Lee is a horrible design and the Lyman needs the other tool to swage the rifling into the slug, but it is not made anymore. The pelet slug from Lyman shoots very good in a rifled barrel but as good as a Lee in a smooth barrel. Which means 40 yds max.

Look up some of the Russian made slug molds. There are several that are made specifically for a smooth bore and are a wad stabilized slug. But they are going to be extremely hard to get right now.
