12.7x114 wildcat -- Ukraine Sniper Round

I'd bet on sore shoulders after working up the loads on this one. Running the bolt around the 5:00 minute mark of the video.
Hard to believe. A cartridge like the 284 Shane has a bullet about 35 feet above the line of sight at 1000 yards. How could you put the elevation on a scope? Wind drift at 1000 yards can be 15 feet.

Some of the loads for my .338 Lapua Magnum should still be supersonic at 2k yards, but I only have access to 1400 yards so I won't be upgrading anytime soon.

I did that round about 22 years ago. I called it the 50HVT.

My light load was 390gr of 20N29 behind a 750gr AMAX bullet. They came out at 3100fps.

We made them barrels for that gun and what was told to me was it was our barrel on that guys gun that made the shot. Read the WSJ article attached. Search the WSJ article as my pdf is too large to attach here...

Also attached is my sample round for having the chamber reamer and sizing die reamer made and a finished round. Next to the one round is a standard 50BMG for comparison.

Go 20mm and call it a day.......
Exactly!
In the days of youth my local gun store had a 20mm Lahti for sale and some $5 a round ammo.
It was bought by a local doctor and his friends, they towed an old car out to the desert and used to shoot it from close to 1 mile.
They said that it kicked like a horse.....

I was reading up on an article about one that was developed in
South Africa. It was based on the NTW-20 anti materials rifle.
The U.S. makes the 20mm Anzio which could be a good platform
for a build. Definitely a rich mans game.

That's what I did my 12.7x114 on. A dewat Lahti. I did it in 50cal because then I didn't have to register it as a destructive device. The bolt face for the 20x138B Solothurn round is the same as the 14.5mm case. Even though the 12.7x114 round was shorter it fed from the magazine with no issues.
