115 VLD

I had a twi-light range trip yesterday p.m. I shot the DTAC's
at 1,000 yd at a metal ground hog silhouette and a 18 in.
steel plate. I took 10 rounds and hit the ground hog 3 times
with the first 8 shots including a sighter. The 3 hits made a
4 in. group with 2 shots 1 in. apart.
I shot the last 2 shots at the plate and had a 2 in., two shot group.

I have done no load work-up for the DTAC at 100 yds. I just
set the bullet at the lands and went shooting.
Next project is to take test O.A.L. & powder charge at 100 yds.

This is an old thread from 2011. Interested in your thoughts 9 years later on the 115 Berger vs 115 DTAC vs 105 Hybrid in a Dasher or BRX.
Of course, today the DTAC is a new Rebated Boat Tail. Anyone using 115's in a Dasher or BRX at 1,000 yds??

I have a good friend shooting 115VLD's in a Norma Dasher for F Class. They shoot great and seem to hold waterline really well.

Myself will highly recommend a 7.5-twist or faster. Even for some of the lighter 105 - 110 class bullets, and besides the slight BC gains, I feel there is stability advantages to using barrels faster then 8-twist with the longer, heavier bullets.

The 115 vld work very well in my 6 Creedmoors. I use a 8 twist and if I run them at 3100 have shot 3 inch 5 shot groups at 1000. Get a little loose at the slower node of 3020 at 1000, but still do real good at 600. I will use 7.5 for my next barrel. Have shot them in dashers and do ok, but 8 twist also. Won’t shoot anything else but 115 in the creed . Last 600 yard ladder I did the best powder charge of 3 each was 1/2 inch.

I have shot over 1700 115 VLD's in competition in my 7.5 twist 243 WIN @ 3080fps,30" barrel.
I throated it out a bit for the longer bullet, low pressure load easy on the brass.
I took 5th in the Leech cup a few years ago with 199-10x's, have shot 3 cleans with it using a scope in local matches.
I have some DTACS but haven't tried them yet.

So would it be safe to assume a .243 AI with a 1 - 7.5 Tw. would stabilize the 115's ?
