115 gr. Berger in 8' twist Barrel ?

I was wanting to try the 115 gr. Berger in my 6x47mm Lapua 8" twist but wanted to see if anyone had any experience with this combination. My current load for 115 gr. DTAC's pushes them 2980 to 2990 fps. but needs more work before I'd ever shoot them in a match. Will the 8" twist stabilize the 115 gr. Berger at this velocity ? Or am I wasting my time and barrel ?

Thanks,
Rodney

When the 115 Berger 6mm VLD was first released, Berger's literature indicated the twist rate to stabilize the bullet was a "1:8" twist or faster". They later changed it to be "1:7" twist or faster". I spoke to Walt berger on this a few years ago and he said in summer conditions a true 1:8" twist may be the best twist. I shot them in a 6mm/22-250 around 2850 fps out of a 1:8" twist barrel and they shot fine. I think you are close to the edge with a 1:8" twist and a true 1:8" twist is needed,i.e. not a 1:8.25" twist, etc.).

Thanks Robert for the reply . I may be close to the edge then because my barrel is a Hart 1:8 which I believe is actually a 1:82". I'm still not sure if I should try them although I've tried everything else.

Hey Rod - I shot my 6mmBR 8 twist Kreiger just this morning with 115 gr. moly Bergers over 28.0 RL15,its favorite powder) at 100 yds. Five shots measured .438. Not as good as the 80 gr. Berger shoots for me. About 180 bullets remaining in two boxes. I will sell them all for $32 includes shipping.

Thanks tenring thats a good deal but I'm shooting naked bullets in this barrel and I'm getting real close to a "keeper" load with the Berger 105 VLD bullet. I wasn't happy with it at all untill I went into the lands .010" more than the .008" I had it jammed before. I guess thats all it took. I was about to pull my hair out until I tried that .
