115 DTAC Barrel Length

I am considering having my 6mm barrel cut down to 24". At the present time the barrel shoots the 115 DTAC's very well. No trouble stabilizing with my 1/8" twist.

Will the barrel stabilize the 115's at 24"? I notice in my .223 going to a shorter barrel the 75 Amax would not stabilize. I wondered if the same could happen with the 6mm barrel.

You may well find reducing barrel lenght to 24 ins will not stabilise the 115s
a friend of mine found that with his 6mmbr 28 ins barrel the 1-8 twist was marginal in stabilising the 115s, when he had the barrel reduced to 24 ins he had to go over to the 105 -107gr bullets, Re the 223, my barrel was 24 ins 1-9 twist and I used the 75gr a maxes, they shot well in the summer months but would not stabilise in the winter, I had the barrel cut to 20 ins and this bullet would not stabilse at all, so bullets that are marginal on stabilising with a given barrel lenght and velocity will not benefit by reducing lenght.

Thanks for the information. I suspected that would be the case. I will the barrel at its present length since it is shooting the 115's so well.
