115 Berger in 1/8 twist

Would the 115's stabilize in 1/8 twist Broughton out of 6mm Dasher?

Very unlikely. Unless Tim North got a new button, the 1:8" twist Broughton barrels are not a true 1:8" twist,like 1:8.375"). I bought a 1:8" twist Broughton to try the 115's and I tried the 115's in my Broughton 1:8" twist barrel and they would only shoot 2.5" - 3" groups at 100 yards, but shoot a 105-107 gr bullet down the bore and you were looking at tight little knots.

Sounds weird that barrels would be produced in the wrong twist. I'll have to check out mine carefully.

A 115smk should work in 8tw, but it's marginal at higher air density.

No it was not cold, you are speculating without information here.

Button rifled barrels are not always true to their advertised twist. Call Tim North at Broughton and ask him straight away on what I say as to his 1:8" twist 5C barrels. I worked with him to do a Precision Shooting magazine piece on the Broughton barrels and he knows the situation,that's why they added a 1:7" twist to their 5C barrel line up, after I went through this with them). I bought two of his 6mm 1:8" twist 5C barrels to shoot the DTAC 115's and neither one of them had enough twist to stabilize the 115's. When they were measured they were definitely over 8.25" twist. He indicated to me his button was not holding a true 1:8" twist. If he bought a new button that will hold a true 1:8" twist, then maybe there is a change, but I would be wary of buying a Broughton 1:8" twist thinking it will stabilize the 6mm 115's.

I agree about the Broughtons. I have a 1 in 10 twist on my .308 and the actual twist is 10.75. I can tell you that the Mike Rock 8 twist barrels work great with the 115 DTACs.

Guys, Would a 243 with a 1 in 8 twist 24in barrel stabilize the 115 dtac bullets paul.

Paul it should as long as it's a true 8 twist. My .243 barrel is 27" but I don't think the extra 3" is making any difference in accuracy, just velocity.

My Wilson 1/8 6XC will stabilize 115 DTACS and my 1/7 Krieger blew up a 115 VLD. Maybe I need a 1/7.5??!!

Now, I cant say I measure them as someone else says they do, but I havent round a bullet yet that wont work in the 1/8 Wilson. Be it heavy, or lite.

To be safe a 1 in 7.5 twist would work as I know alot of people using the Schneider 7.5 twist and 115 DTACS with great results.

I know three different people,myself being one of them) who bought 1:7" twist barrels and had excess pressure problems,too fast a twist - pressures spiked). Go with a 1:7.5" twist. The last 6mm barrel I had fitted up was a Bartlein 7.8" twist - it shoots great with the 115's.

Since I really want a Broughton 5C and intend to shoot 105 and 115, you guys think that the 7.3 twist they offer in .243 would be OK stabilizing the bullets and not blowing them up?
