107 Sierra loads for 6BR

I need some of your pet loads for the 107 Sierra Matchings for a 6BR. My gun shoots the 105 Bergers really good, but I wanted to try the Sierras. I have been reloading for a long time and love to test loads. I will start where its safe, or wherever U tell me to. Just let me know where and I can and will work up. Thanks

Start with Varget 29.0 and go to 30.0....... shoot 3 rounds of each in 2/10 gr increments and that should allow you to find a nice wide sweet spot.

For the initial ladder test I would just seat them all .015 off.

With the Sierras the powder charges didn't make near the difference as in seating depths "in vs. out" of the lands did as my gun can't shoot them in the lands at all but once I backed them out it was amazing. Same thing with JLK's in my 6 BR.

If you have decent weather do this test at 300 yards and by the time you shoot the 15 th. shot you should have it figured out then maybe another ladder to tweak seating depth if needed but probably won't. I can load from 10 thou to 120 thou off the lands and all shot sub one inch on the ladder target and several 1/2 inch with no vertical in the sweet spot. It's an amazing round to shoot.

You can load a little hotter (work up slow as usual) maybe but at 30.2 to 30.4 grains I could feel the primer pockets start to loosen and the brass really stretching at the web and for a compromise I shoot at 29.8 to 30.00 Varget.

This may be the most boring ladder test you ever do Lol as the groups may average small enough where it's hard to find enough variance to disclude many loads.

I've got a load that absolutly hammers with 30.8gr of Varget. Would be best to work up, but it is not very hot in my rifle.

You shouldn't have much trouble getting the 107 to shoot

30 grs. of Varget, 107 SMK touching or with .020" of jump, does not seem to matter. Same load used by numerous others who I know & we all report success with it. It just keeps on going, like the Energizer Bunny.

Try using R-15. Work up from approx. 28.5gr and see if you find a sweet spot around 29-29.5gr. Keep the bullet just barely off the lands and a couple thousands of neck tension on the bullet if you have a bushing die. Oh, and using a Win primer. 4895 works pretty well too if you have any. WD

about 29 gr H4895 works great in my 6br. It did not like the varget at all. 28.0 benchmark was decent, but 29 h4895 with 107smk, 108 berger bt, or 105 hornady hpbt shot really good 3 shots in the .1s and 5 shots in the hi .2s-lo.3s
