105g Lapua loads

I am shooting a savage 6br with 1/8 twist shillen barrel, previously I started with 108g Berger. But ended up buying 1000 lapua 105g.

Anyone have feedback or advice as far as loads or information that may come in handy. The barrel only has 100 rounds on it.

I'll be using cci magnum primers and have varget imr 4895 on hand.

This load with the 105 VLD's into the lands .010-.015. If that doesn't show promise, sell it.

Just to clarify I'm talking about the lapua 105g scenar bullets. Not bergers

I think you may want to read between the lines. Many if not most of the 6br shooters prefer the Berger 105 vlds or Hybrids for a reason. Just curious, why did you go with 1000 of the Lapua without knowing what your barrel may like?

a buddy of mine shoots 'em in his 1 in 8 twist 6BR Krieger. he tried different seating depths and found a jump of 10 to 20 thou worked good. 30.0 of Varget i believe

Because they were $269 for a 1000 and for that price I figured why not.

I shot the 105 scenars in my XC. They shot better close and far. They were also cheaper.

Sort by base to ogive and weight 1000 of each (the Lapua Scenar L, Berger Hybrids, VLDs and DTACs).

You will end up with (2) piles for the Lapua's and (6) at most (8) for the Hybrids/VLDs and (3) to (4) for the new DTACs.

Lucky enough to have fired all four (DTAC ole and new, Berger 105 hybrid and VLD and the Scenar) extensively (i.e. 8 barrels 23k plus rounds) out of a straight 243 and a 6xc.

In order of consistency:
Lapua Scenar L 105
Lapua Scenar 105
DTAC RBT 115
Berger 105 Hybrid
Berger 105 VLD
DTAC 115

The last batch of DTAC RBT are phenomenal. They fly very well but they have not knocked Lapua L's off yet in terms of consistency (closest I've seen to date).

Probably haven't shot as many as Mr. Whidden but enough to register a objective opinion on all four bullets.

A person cannot go wrong with Scenars.
