105 gr VLD or Hybrid in 6 BR?

As a 300meter comp. shooter I go through several 1000 rounds per year. So far I had good results using moly-coated VLD's. As these are no longer available I am thinking of using the uncoated VLD's. Or should the new 105 gr hybrids be better suited for my purposes (60 shot prone matches)? Where I live, there is hardly a possibllity to try them first before bying. So considering the amount iI intend to purchase (5000), any info would be welcome.

Thanks

Eddy

One option would be to buy some WS2 (about $10) off of Ebay, get some BB's and plastic pill bottles, and coat the bullets yourself in your tumbler.

After tumbling rub them together in an old cloth or rag to remove excess powder....they'll shine right up.

I've been doing it for several years to all my bullets, and have a "dedicated" RCBS tumber for that purpose alone...

Just a thought....

My experience is that the 105 Hybrids are great at 600 but have not shown the extreme accuracy that the 105 VLD will when properly loaded. My 6BR (Viper SS, 30" Bartlein, Shehane ST1000) will shoot .1-.2" groups with VLDs and ~.25" with Hybrids. At 600, the Hybrid's B.C. is great in wind. At 300, I would rather have the accuracy. I still have ~700 Hybrids from 2000 and just bought 2000 more VLDs. YMMV

Another question arises for me: which of the two would retain its accuracy over a prolonged time of barrel use?
For benchrest I believe that many serious competitors change barrels before the 2000 shot mark. In 300m prone, which is very hard on barrels (60 rounds + sighters in less than 75' per match), it is not uncommon for even the top shooters to get 4000 rounds before changing the barrel.
So therefore my question: are there ideas which of the two would retain its accuracy better as the barrel slowly degrades?

Many thanks for the info already

Eddy

buy a box of each and see which your rifle like better, doesn't matter what other rifles shoots better...

Im think the same thing too VLD'S or Hybrid. Good luck finding hybrids in stock. I just ordered the VLD's but everyone seems to be out of stock in the hybrids

Also mine is not a 300m rifle but this is a MR/LR gun with usually 70-80 rounds with sighters. I shoot a naked 107 now so I'll let ya know how the VLD's do next weekend.
