105 Berger VLD hunting

Just got my 6BRX shooting really good at 300 yards and quess what? I have 7 bullets left. I am gonna order some more of the 105 VLD but I wanted to get some imput from yaw about if there is difference between the targer VLD and the hunting VLD. I want to order the hunting version to use on whitetails but I also want the great groups that I have gotten with the target version. Any body been there done this?

Two (contradictory) thoughts:
1- stay with what you've got. That's the targets.
2- In my experience (before they changed the target to have a larger meplat, and thus lower BC) the two shot the same, iterchangeably, even. Provided I reset my seating die as needed like I always do when switching lots, anyway. Since they shoot the same, use the one with the higher BC, the hunting. Plus, you want to use them hunting, so get the hunting, make the switch over, and you're set.

There isn't much reason to shoot the 105 VLD target, unfortunately. If you want to shoot the 105 VLD, go with the hunting for the higher BC. If you're worried about blowing up bullets (because of a very worn barrel, or a bigger-than-BRX cartridge--I never had one go missing with any of my BRXs), then the 108 has a higher BC than the 105 target, the thicker jacket, and tends to be less finicky.

So, to answer the question, go with the 105 Hunting, and I'd expect the same load (and seating depth measured at the ogive--but that might require a seating die adjustment) to shoot just as well with the hunting as it did with the targets.

(Note, the 105 is the only case where the hunting and target bullets are externally different, but it matters enough that, combined with Berger's other offerings, the 105 Target isn't the best option)

I have the same experence as you, the target VLD gives me better groups, and Nosler makes a new offering this year the 90 grain Accubond. Those would be my 2 choices, Tim

Never used them for hunting. The hunting VLD's are reported to have thinner jackets than the target bullets. Maybe OK for deer.

For hunting, I would not jamb them in the lands.
