Berger 105 VLD Hunting vs. Target

According to the Berger website, both the Target and Hunting 105 VLD have a .532 BC. While they say the jacket is thicker on one than the other, but they shoot exactly the same. How can that be? How can both bullets shoot exactly the same if they are designed different?

Has anyone shot them to compare?

I have not been able to find any 105 VLD targets, however I found 1 place that has the 105 VLD hunting, that big store in Nebraska). I've got a new 6br,my first) and it's itchin' to get shot. Should I just call Randy at BIB and get his new 108's to test instead?

***** EDIT ****** Should I get some 107 SMK's? I found those.

I'm planning on using Varget and/or H4895 in my first rounds of testing.

Here is a pic of my new baby.....

Bolt bushed and Pin turned to .062

I never had issues blowing up 105s, though I have toasted my share of 115s. So when the thick jacketed 105s came out I tested them. I did do some side by side comparisons in two guns, both of which shot them almost identically in terms of POI and groups, but both rifles I tested them in slight preferred the thick ones in terms of group sizes. That i was pleased with as I had planned to go thick jackets even though I hadnt had any issues with the 105s.

WHen I was testing a 6PDK upper I shot most 6mm bullets available by Berger, other than benchrest types) and Sierra. The Bergers consistently won the dual and the only bullet with a thin jacket that shot better than the thick was the 105BT, but only barely. I am not currently shooting the 105BTs so it really didnt matter.

I have literally tried to blow up the thick jacket Bergers, especially the 115s and have failed to do so.

Me, given the choice between a 107 and a 105 or 108, I will shoot the Berger. I have a bunch of 500 packs of 107s sitting on the shelf just waiting to be used someday.
