with a 10" target at somewhere around 1k yards and bet $10,000 for a first shot hit?

No, i'm soon to be 75 yrs old . Wearing out like most that age. Can't walk well, wear glasses and hearing aids. Gave up deer hunting in my late 20's because the once a year crazy's were dangerous and i much prefer beef. My passion was hunting quail and ringnecks. Been Prairie dog shooting a few times thats been pretty well ruined.
I now enjoy shooting 22 rifle at 50 yds and participate in some good old bot events.
I stand by my original observation 100 % and entertained byall the pro's on the board.

If you’re skilled enough to make the shot consistently I don’t know how it’d be unethical. People have different skill levels and gear. Congrats on the bear I know what it’s like to hunt something for years with no luck then making it happen.

In 10 years of hunting bear I’ve seen 7 that I could have taken a shot at but only shot once. I passed on the other six because of conditions or just not comfortable with the circumstances.

Just for your information: Number of PA bear hunters 213,639 number of bears harvested 3170. That’s less than 1.5% harvest rate and that 3170 represents archery and muzzle loading and rifle season.

FYI for any one that has not shot a bear or hunted with a crew and had to help bring it out of the woods. The shot is celebrated and then the work starts. Getting a bear out is like trying to move a bag of jello .What a pain in the rear. I`ve helped with bears from 195lbs. to 550 lbs. And it would take hours. This is with a gang of 15- 20 hunters. At the end of the day we all ate good and slept better. It`s all great fun til the work starts. I`m glad I don`t have that much fun anymore. Jeff

"You shouldn't be allowed to [make 1000 yd shots / own a gun] because I'm not comfortable [making 1000 yd shots / owning a gun]".
