1000 yard IBS agg Match

What if there were flyers put out around town and such? Maybe a small add in the local shopper, get some news coverage or someone interview on the air with a local radio station? Some if not all these ranges are off the beaten path so they don't get any visibility so you have to be creative and make it visible in populated areas.

First I want to say I'm sorry for starting this but It has given us a lot and I do men a lot of information to take to the table drawing board Etc . So I think it's been a success . So at this point and time she's all yours I'm out working on issues . But before I go Larry you have made a couple points and thanks for them . I'm going to make you a offer if you will come to Cool Acres for the Nationals I will take care of the entry fee for you to shoot light gun ,heavy maybe a little much at such a early time . And at the end of the show you can come tell me what is wrong and I can let everyone know I brought in a expert to evaluate the current system . Now if you like it you have to come back on here and ask the guys if you can play in the sand box that you and a few have mucked up a little it's ok the cats will be by later and cover the mess up. Now all this is in fun and we do a lot of sh$&/ talking at the matches we happen to think it's fun so you would have to be prepared for that as well. So how about it you can come to nationals be one of them big time sponsored shooter I will even through in a shirt ask Mike they are nice . So what's it's going to be Larry you in

Thanks for the offer . I have a friend who I'm helping with a stock car and camping with my family . I can't criticize anyone who puts a shoot on . I was going to send you a tuner for your table . That got screwed up with the gun tax . Next year if I'm still still around I would like nothing better . To get more shooters From what I see additional classes looks like good move . And if you do it I think restrictions on who can enter sound good .
Our last shoot we had over $5000 in prizes with 60 percent pay back and ended up with less the 20 shooting. Good job
And thanks Larry

I got a couple of milk cows .
If we ever get our club straight out you got the same offer and I will let you use my camper . Could even find a hog or two to shoot . I don't think that many shooters have any idea how much work is involved in putting a shoot on . Larry

I agree with what you say Dave, The factory has gained a few and the tactical has been the same way, i dont think they will be the answer, i dont mind having them so people have a place to start if they want but it is not going to fix the problem.

One thing that needs to be taken into account is that what motivates gray hair's is most likely NOT the same for younger shooters.

OR even brunette green eyed twins. I'm not to fussy, gene pool isn't all that deep up here.

Tom
I have 3 generation of girls two who has shot and both are blond . They all like guns .
But shooting does fit in their schedule . But hunting one is all in . For her 17 birthday she wanted and got a shot gun . Larry

Nope. We have to settle for Ray Lowman!!!

Not much to look at but dang if he ain't entertaining!!

I am just getting into the IBS game. Two of my friends and I went to a match and the 3 of us commented that we did not like the fact that once we start shooting the score target we have no idea where we are hitting, and can not look at our targets after we are done with that target. A hard pill to swallow for first timers. Just saying. I realize that you just have to get used to it if you want to keep shooting the game. Some will not come back. I have 2.....6 Dashers and one has about 1000 rounds through it, and the other has about 700 rounds through it. If I can not find a smith to rebarrel them, after they won't shoot anymore, what is the sense of considering buying anymore components etc, etc??? Right now my concern is being able to rebarrel worn out barrels. I am going to wait to see what happens to our smith's, before I spend anymore money on this game. Am I over reacting? DJB

You will always be able to find a smith to rebarrel your rifles. I can give my phone number and that of many more equally talented people. Look on this site for list of smiths.
Are you talking about being able to shoot sighters during the record period of fire? You can look at your target but I know of no one who can see 6MM bullet holes at 1000 yds. It can difficult at 600 yds shooting a 6MM.

Sounds to me that you are used to shooting f-class?? Most of the time when we shoot 1000 yard bench rest we try to get our rounds off as fast as possible so they remain in the same conditions?? If you sight in on you sighters just before your record round starts you should be on target? Most of the time!!?? I think too many people get this mixed up with f-class shooting and its not the same game at all..

Dave.... Just being able to make sight corrections during a record target. I have been shooting competitively for close to 40 years. This is the first game where I am not able to see where my group is at, till the end of the day. For instance, shooting sighters, and then going to the record target, and the group is not even close to where my sighters were. As a rookie just starting out, it takes some of the fun out of it. I realize it is a learning curve, and I have to work at it. For some, they may choose to try another game. Sometimes the first impressions can change a persons mind.
I have had many rimfire and centerfire rifles rebarreled, and I have had 4 smiths within driving distance. No more. I hate the idea of sending out rifles out. (spoiled) With all the little shops closing, the time it will take for the smiths, still in business to do it, will create a long back log for sure. It has been about 19 years since I have sent a barreled action out for work, and have heard of some horror stories pertaining to shipping (accidents) problems. I have heard a lot ( of good) about you, and would not be afraid to have you do my barreling work. Thanks for your kind offer. Doug Bell

Josh..... I have shot bullseye pistol competition, short range BR, and 4 types of rimfire competition. In all you could look at where your bullets are hitting, and make sight corrections if needed. At my first 1000 yard IBS I was told by anther shooter that I was shooting too many sighters and over heating my barrel too much before the record target comes up. Makes a lot of sense.
Due to a bad neck, I can not shoot F-class. Doug

You need a gun that tracks and pick a repeatable condition to shoot in and time it, then zero in it and wait for it to come for the record rounds. Don't try to race a condition……. jim

A lot of guys don't worry about score. I know a lot that just shoot for group. That came from the mentality of group beats score. Can't win both. Matt

Johara1.......I tried that at the 1000 yard match, and was able to win a for score shoot off. What you say does work. Just need more practice. Thanks. Doug
