1000 yard benchrest shooting

Last years nationals were won by a 284 Shehane, I believe.

Where I shoot at Byers, most of the guys shoot the little stuff for light and the big stuff for heavy. There are only a couple of guys who shoot big calibers in light gun.

5 or 6 years ago the 308 Baer was popular especially in the heavy gun. Now almost everybody is shooting 6 Dashers and 300 WSM. They are more accurate, better barrel life and easier to get tuned. Plus they don't have a belt and brass lasts a lot longer. Matt

I am going to switch to a 50 cal necked to .375 with a big assed muzzle break. I will win by default because no one will shoot with me. it seems that this is the only way to win nowadays!!! ;D

Since there is no barrel length rule and no weight rule in 1000 HV-Gun, I'm going to build a super long barreled rifle with a super long barrel-tuner (999.9-yards long total) and won't ever shot groups any larger then tuner diameter....
The tuner will never need adjusting once its on and the stock will be unusually heavy and hefty.
Setup time and transporting it to the line are the logistics I'm still trying to work out !.!.!
