100 yd zero possible w/ NF and tapered base?

i can not figure out if a nightforce br at either 32x or 42x can get a 100 yard zero with 20 moa bases? the NF benchrest in 32x has 40moa adjustment and 50 moa for the 42x. can both get 100y zero. the gun would be a 6.5x284 at 2900fps with 142gr Sierra MKs with altitude 550feet. i am considering either the 12-42x or 8-32x. thanks

For the load you described, and assuming your nominal scope axis to bore axis is 2 to 2.5 inches, your required 100 yard zero elevation is 5.2 to 5.7 MOA. With the 20 MOA base you would have back down 14.8 to 14.3 MOA which should be well within the range of either scopes internal adjustments.

i just want to make sure i am doing this right for 1000yards now. if the scope is zeroed at its center it would have 20moa up,the 42x model) and 20moa down. with the 20moa base does this mean it adds 20moa to the 20 moa up so i have a total of 40moa elevation from the center zero and 20 moa down from the center zero? gun is 28-29moa low at 1000y if zeroed at 100y. so based on this, i have >10moa left after adjusting, correct? thanks for the comments before, i now think i will get a 12-42x.

I've got 20MOA tapered bases on three rifles chambered in 6.5X.284 Shehane and have no problem going from 100 to 1000 yards with my 12-42X Nightforce BR's.
