100 Yard F-Class Target

Attached is a target that I made for 100 yard F-Class. It is scaled similarly to the 300 yard target. Since multiple hits can be difficult to score, it is intended to work like rimfire targets. After taking the two sighters, one per upper target (S1, S2), the next ten shots are also one per target for score. This makes it a lot easier to see whether a given shot breaks the line. You also get a clean target for every shot. The ring sizes are: [br]
X ring - .47"
10 ring - .95"
9 ring - 1.90" [br]
I didn't include an 8 ring due to space constraints and F-Class shooters should not be shooting 2 MOA groups at 100 yards. Two targets could be employed for a 20 shot match.

Thanks, Steve. What are the chances of reversing the black and white on the targets? My bullet holes are easier to see on a white background. And at 100 yards, all that black is not necessary, IMHO.

Thanks, they are better than the ones I had made up for our Winter Reduced Matches.....I like the 20 round idea also, makes every one move around little bit extra.

set 2 up today at 100 yards, shot with a 22 and not as easy as i thought. actually scored a little lower than my average at 1000 yards. 20 power is a little under powered for this target.

You may be scoring lower because the target is actually undersized not by a lot but it does not take much to turn outside 10's into 9's.

The F-class targets at 300, 500, 600 and 1,000 yards all have a 1 MOA 10 ring and a 0.5 MOA X-ring, 1 MOA at 100 yards is 1.047" so the 10-ring should be 1.047" or rounding up 1.05" and the X-ring 0.5235" or 0.52. The targets at 800 and 900 are not 1 MOA because the F-class LR target is used, that is one reason why shooting a clean target at 800 yards is not difficult but is very difficult at 1,000 yards.

Like I said the difference is not much, but it does not take much.

You are incorrect. The F-Class rules are attached. Target sizes are on page 4. The 500, 600 and 1000 yard targets are sized as inch multiples of the yardage. (i.e.: 5", 6" 10"). The 800 and 900 yard targets are the 1000 yard target. The exception is the 300 yard target, MR-63FC. The 10 ring is 2.85" and the X ring is 1.42". The reduction is to account for reduced wind effects at shorter ranges. It is this target from which I scaled the 100 yard target.

Best edge scoring, which means that if the bullet hole touches the line, it is the higher score.

Well, consider the 600 yard target with a 6" ten ring. If shooting a caliber .30 rifle and any shot that touches the line is a 10, that means the effective diameter is 6" + .308" = 6.308". One MOA at 600 yards is ~6.285. So, we can actually put shot centers on slightly more than 1 MOA and make score. This application varies with distance, caliber and scoring ring, but the effective diameter is always more than the scoring ring diameter.

I already made 5X targets for 300. They can only incorporate the X and 10 rings. The 200 yard target could have 9 rings, I just didn't make it that way. The 300 yard targets mean a little less walking but I usually use these at South Bay Rod & Gun Club near San Diego. It is in the foothills close to the Mexican border where the winds can be pretty tricky and I often stray outside the 10 ring. So, I just put out three or four of the single targets and shoot 15 or 20 shot strings. I shot the attached target Wednesday before the wind came up too much but I still almost lost a couple.

BTW, will you be shooting on the 17th at Ben Avery? It looks like the day is for sling, etc.

Yes. Both the 17th and 18th are for all LR classes. I will drive over Friday after finishing the 29 Palms LR Regional.
