Do you really need to comb your hair while reloading?

I like the Redding competition shell holders because you never have to touch the die to adjust the amount of shoulder bump.

With Skips shims you have to remove the die and add or remove shims every time you adjust the amount of bump.

I've never used Skip's for adjusting bump. Only used them to adjust seating depth on a Wilson seater that didn't have the micrometer top.
For adjusting bump I used a set of arbor shims I got from Grainger way back. Did have to remove the die from the press to change the shim though.
Now that I mostly use a Coax press Im really loving those Whidden adjustable sizing dies.
They are FM!

I like the feeler gauge thing but the shims sound sweet. My lock ring doesn't always come loose that easy. Even with a smack. Where do I get these things? OMG the guff is back, break out your secret decoder rings.

Im way too cheap and lazy to mess with feeler gages and shims and such truck. I use the hated Lee dies and have witness marks on the dies and the presses. Turning the die in or out with the "O" ring lets me adjust quickly and the addition of relevant witness marks lets me repeat the adjustment with practical accuracy.

That’s wind flag is showing a solid left to right in your room, I’ve never thought about reading wind while reloading but maybe you’re on to something there...

For repeatability between adjustments and for the ease of repeating, die shims work very well.

I bought the shims but then changed my strategy. As my significant inventory of 6 Dasher Wilson Seater dies were difficult/impossible to adjust consistently, I decided to lock each Wilson die to align with each barrel. To a make my seating depth perfect at touch, I load at touch and chase the barrel erosion.

So, @BenPerfected, are you saying there is no perfect solution? If so, perhaps you should consider changing your handle.

If you are a seating depth fanatic, my process works great. Just load long and adjust the SD after 40-50 rounds.

You can adjust a wilson stem real easy- measure it with calipers. Write it on the die on masking tape or on that particular box of bullets

Good suggestion, know just the bullets to use

How bad is the wind in your reloading room?

That wind condition makes sense considering where the wind source would be seated when reloading.

I shouldn't talk, my basement reloading room is next to the utility room. I have all the vents blocked off and a blanket hanging in the open doorway. Never did install a door because of the lost space; maybe I should install a pocket door.

If I'm eating anything cabbage based, the wind gets pretty stifff in my loading room.

I have done this too in a fashion; I use automotive valve shims. I do not recall the price, but I think the $ was reasonable. I bought them ~ 20 years ago. I have 4 8MM rifles and use the shims then. I set the die for the rifle with the tightest chamber then when loading the next, slightly larger chambered rifle I place shim which backs off the die some. Then when I want to run a batch of whatever 8 MM I don't need to fiddle around with the die lock ring each time. I made a list of the shims needed for each rifle.
