I may be wrong as I have never watched any of his previous videos or follow him, but I didn't view it as he was trying to impress people that he is someone special or a cool influencer. What I took away from it is showing it is possible to take a low budget setup and be able to shoot long distances with a minimum amount of time and shots and it wasn't about precision shooting, it was about being able to hit what you are aiming at. It still requires the shooter to have disciplined skills and knowledge beyond that of a once a year shooter/hunter that never does anything but a sight in day and goes hunting.

Hell I guarantee there are guys that have 2-3 times that amount invested in there set up and think they are big shots (pun intended) and still would not be able to get hits at one mile in under 20 rounds.
Ray is a good guy. Been watching him for some time.

It's pretty incredible that we have access to off the shelf components these days that can accomplish that

That's the truth, how quickly people take for granted how far things have come. I just inflation adjusted $850 back 50 years, that's equivalent to $131 in 1974. So for $131 in '74, what off-the-shelf rifle, scope, and factory ammo would come remotely close to reasonably making hits at a mile? Slam that Tasco on top of a 300 WM with a box of corelokts and let er rip :D

Well, you know, there are some folks who are wound so tight that it’s difficult for them to simply sit back and enjoy something just for entertainment’s sake. Not referring to you, by the way!

No, I really do want anyone who can top that with a cheaper rifle and a shooter who admits to only having shot .22's before to show us how to do it. You must do it in the same time frame or better as well.

Yes I know there are members here who can do so, however that was not the point of this video. If the nay sayers at the start of this video or anyone else can do so, please show us, so we can learn from it, that is the point of the video, ... period.

The ELR guys here know he did a great job especially with the rifle he was shooting. Shooting at 1K is a piece of cake compared to 1 mile. I tried it a a few years ago and it took three trips out to shoot a very respectably group.

Really? You hit a mountain at 2200yds? The tripod that range finder was on cost more than the whole rifle scope and ammo Ray videoed. I understand that there could have been a fantastic group shot on the rock, but there was no way to tell from the video you posted. Glad you didn't mention the bullet used, I would imagine a lead cup and core bullet would get you jail time in that forest if it was in your home state. But i too think if it is truly a 1 mile rifle it would not take 29 shots to get 1 hit at distance.
