1,000 Yard Factory Rifle For Less Than $1,000?

New barrel and bolt face for one of the savages. If you are not going to load, get a 6.5 Creedmoor, as the available factory ammo for a 6.5 Creedmoor is better and more plentiful than most other chamberings. Get a 20 or 30 moa base I like EGW. And get a good scope with plenty of elevation adjustment. I like Nightforce but others are good and many are more affordable. Find a load with 140 grain bullets that your gun likes and stick with it. learn to use JBM ballistics . JBM will tell you how to get really close to the target without wasting too many shots.

This setup far exceeds the $1000 limit. This is why I say it’s virtually impossible to do anything scoped and stay under $1000

Shooting long is fun. And there's several "off the rack" factory in rifles that will shoot long. Just be sure to choose a caliber brass that's big enough to hold enough powder to pust the freedom seed to distance. And that the seed is heavy enough to not get blown all over before it gets to its designated tgt. Simple. Go get em .

Do have a Savage Axis II Precision in 6.5 manbun that shoots to 1000 yds. It a MDT Chassis rig. Mine runs good. I have never tried it as a prone sling rifle. 22" 1/8 twist. Threaded barrel, accutrigger. Likes 140 ELDM
Very cost effective rifle, mlok forend for attachments. I run a Arca rail. Extra weights on forend and butt. 20MOA rail is already there.

There was a YouTube video I haven't seen recently, of a guy with a Ruger American Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor, a 20 MOA Pic. Rail, a 6X24 Vortex Viper and a generic bipod and rear bag who hit a 3'X3' steel plate at 1,000 yards. His wife was spotting for him and he walked it in with about 6-7 shots. I think he was using handloads, but the rifle was bone stock except for the 20 MOA rail. He had already hit this steel time after time at 500 yards on another video. The nice thing about 6.5 Creed rifles are that they are throated for long, heavy for caliber, high BC target bullets. There are certainly better rifle/stock combinations in 6.5 Creed that can do this, probably with better accuracy. The Vortex scope also is less than $1,000. Good luck.

Yeah maybe so, but maybe there will be some sort of trend(s) with particular brands/models that will show up more frequently at that price point.

It’s more about the ammunition you load, the optics and the shooter. A factory rifle with a tuned load can shoot 1/2 to 1/4 moa. A scope with proper parallax adjustment and a refined shooter can put really impressive hits on target. You probably won’t fill all these circles on $1000.

Lots of rifles will do it, get any varmint r700 or Tikka and you will be fine.

I`ve had absolutely no issues with extraction/ejection with my Savage .223s, but am hesitant about a 6.5 Creed. My understanding is that Savage rifles are notorious for problems with that caliber(?). I have no doubts, however, that any number of Savage models can and will shoot accurately at 1,000 yards.

For longer ranges ( 600- 1,000 yards ) , I`m considering going somewhat less expensive on the gun and spending more on glass this time around. I`m fine out to 500 yards with my Savage Model 12 LRPV in .223.

I ran a Savage LRP in 6.5 Creedmoor for a couple of years when I started F Class. Shot both mid and long range (600 and 1000) with it. Never had a problem with it in any regard beyond shooting out barrels and having to replace them. But then I put a lot of rounds down those tubes before changing them out. Not sure who said they are notorious for problems but they clearly never owned one. I would probably still be using it but I had money burning a hole in my pocket for a custom build.
