1,000 Grain Containers

In re: http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2014/04/dot-approves-new-1000-grain-2-3-oz-powder-containers/

Now I'm really stumped. We need 1,000-gr. powder containers why? I can't see any value to anyone from the "new development".

This quote ("In a market where demand vastly outstrips available supply, the smaller containers allow powder-makers to generate more revenue with a given amount of powder inventory.") from the bulletin page makes no sense to me either. A powder company is selling every kernel of powder they can manufacture/import and demand is far outstripping supply. So how do they make more money by selling their powder in smaller containers?

Good Lord, fill up some of them 8-lb. containers and tell me where they are so I can get a few. I sure have no possible need for 1,000 grains of anything.

Naw... they should make 250 grain containers so those that just want to load a few "for the range"

;) ;) ;)

It is not about practicality, it is about profitability. They will sell the smaller container for more $ per ounce and blame it on the cost of packaging (that we do not need nor want). Everyone has an MBA these days...

Don,t panic, they can,t produce a one pound batch of any thing. What chance do they have to package 1,000 gr. batches. It,s just a smoke scren. My Two cents. Tommy Mc..

+1

What would make the best sense is if they packaged 7 containers together instead of 6 and came with a free empty one pound can so we could use the 7 small containers to fill up the big one pound container. That would be SMART! ;)

;)I woke up early today, 4-1 14, added 3 ice cubes to my favorite glass plus some amber fluid just to se what would be posted on the bulletin board.

Thank you guys, I was not disappointed.

Maybe profitability is what's behind the supply problem, after all. We've heard all sorts of reasons for the availability issues. This looks a lot like profit is more the goal than is supply. IIRC, a similar idea was being tried by one of the mfg's prior to all of the shortages. I think it was marketed as a test pack, with about 4 different kinds of powders in small package quantities. It was marketed as an alternative to buying 4 different 1lb containers during load development.

Waaaaat?! 1,000 grains? We don't need that! We need 100,000 grain containers!!! >:( but we can't even find any gun powder!!! :-[ so why don't they start making gun powder first than a little dinky container! >:(

It's a leftwing liberal plot to begin ratcheting down the amount of powder we can buy. First the "shortage," now these little containers, next you'll have to tell them what the "intended purpose" of the ammo is before you get any... I'm freakin' out.

If nothing else, ya think some folks would do well to go back to the link and read the comments at the bottom of that page for a clue?.... ya think? ;D

The 1000 grain containers will be useful for uniforming and sorting powder kernels! Cant wait to use them to load up my Berger "Ripple" bullets! You guys almost got me!
