A friend called and said the Hay is cut and so was his 250 yd. grass stretch. I saw one at 150 yds. when driving in but it headed for cover quickly as I passed by. I parked just as my friend was coming down the lane with his Tractor, I motioned I saw one and he stopped. I grabbed my .223 Ackley Improved and walked over to the grass stretch and went prone with the bipod. Nothing were I saw the one running but had one at what I later ranged at 218 yds. The grass concealed his body and for a second he stood up but I couldn't get the trigger broke quick enough. Got impatient and we he reared up a bit I sent one only to see the dust fly just over his shoulder! He took off for cover of the wood line. Dang I hate when that happens! He did come out, or another from the same area, a bit later and stood up a little too long and the 80 gr. A-Max made him pay for his poor judgement! The other, a Sow(done nursing I hope), was a whopping 85 yds. and not much of a story there!
Had a good time with good company and now my total for the season stands at 6.
