  1. Not Sure What Caused This

Look at the rings on the brass at the body/shoulder junction. You definitely have a chamber or sizing problem. You also only want about .002 on your shoulder.
  2. Status of NRA rules, E-Targets, certification and records?

Scorekeepers need to have the fortitude to stand up for what it is right also but first they need to pay attention.
  3. Status of NRA rules, E-Targets, certification and records?

This was happening before the etargets, they just made it more obvious. This falls not only on the shooter but the score keeper. We still use scorekeepers on the etargets and it is up to them to call the shooter out for taking a shot that did not hit their target. At least with etargets...
  4. How many rounds on a new gun?

I do a 30 - 40 round break in and then step right into it. I have won matches with barrels that have 50 rounds down the tube. If it speeds up then make the necessary changes and move on.
  5. Status of NRA rules, E-Targets, certification and records?

So much controversy over national records and etargets. As someone who has shot a couple national records I can tell you a couple were shot on etargets and since then I have bested my own records on pulled targets in major events. So was one record better than the other? Absolutely yes, when...
  6. Academy primers

Check the most recent price of primers online with companies who have kept prices down. They are no longer under $100 per brick.
  7. How many firings before trash can?

As a long range competition shooter consistent neck tension makes a difference. I annealed for years with a propane annealer with no problems. I purchased an AMP more for the convenience of being able to stop and start whenever I wanted without resetting flames and such. It is definitely more...
  8. Competition, Brass, Barrels, Actions and Dollars

I develop a load for virgin brass and compete with it, then change to my regular load on the reload. All my barrels are chambered with the same reamer by the same gunsmith so the brass just goes from one barrel to the next. Since I shoot .308 in ftr then brass last quite a long time. I shoot...
  9. Status of NRA rules, E-Targets, certification and records?

Why did only 20 people shoot FTR Mid Range at nationals this year? I mean heck, it was pulled targets where you were certain to get a well scored target. Because there is no back stop to see bullet impacts. Try looking up at a target all day with the sun in your eyes. It was not fun in that...
  10. AutoTrickler V4

Don’t be jumping to conclusions unless you know what is going on.
  11. AMP Aztec analyzing Question

I analyzed both. Fired brass had been annealed numerous times prior to getting the AMP. Expect fired and unfired to be different and turned necks also will be different.
  12. Sequence of tuning

Initial testing powder charge then seating depth. After that I do not think order matters for neck tension and primer change. Just do one thing at a time.
  13. Bullets sorted, how to group them?

    Never mix different lots
  14. At what point does cartridge runout erode accuracy?

The truth here is to get real honest results you have to take the shooter and any wind conditions out of the equation. That being said, knowing that you have done everything possible to eliminate error in your reloading and equipment set up leaves only 1 factor to deal with, the human behind the...
  15. CBTO and neck tension

If you can afford it the AMP annealer is the way go!
  16. CBTO and neck tension

Thoughts to help keep it simple! There will always be variance in seating pressure even with identical brass. Annealing keeps the brass from getting hard and splitting. Different number of firings on the brass will add to the equation because of work hardening even with annealling Since is...
  17. One last memento from Camp Atterbury

You should have attended the competitors meeting. There were improvements to the range discussed with great enthusiasm for drawing more shooters. One of those discussed and the easiest to implement was having a backstop berm.
  18. F-T/R School

Would love to see another clinic and be involved!
