Sequence of tuning

So you do your powder charge test and seems it is repeating over several range trips. Do seating and come up with something decent. The. Go back and do fine powder test to confirm start/stop or window.

Question from here if you want to test neck tension and/or primer swap which do you try first or does it matter which order?

Testing neck tension or primer swaps is entirely up to you. If the baseline above is meeting your goals, then you must decide what the costs and benefits would be for trying to do better. The order would also be up to you.

But, what if the baseline above left lots of room for improvement? Suppose you are at 1 MOA but suspect the rig should be capable of less than 1/3 MOA? Why wouldn't you try neck tension or primers?

If you are picky, or trying to learn what the optimum performance would be for the recipe or gun, then you will probably end up running both types of tests eventually.

Given a nominal starting point, some guy named Tony Boyer fine tuned using a matrix of something like 5 charge weights x 5 seating depths = 25 total to find the optimal combination. This is a commonly used statistical method to detect an optimum combination when something like the best seating depth depends on the charge weight, or neck tension, etc. And there are more efficient designs to reduce Tony's matrix to less than half the number of combinations required, I personally use a design utilizing 10. But I'm a nerd.

It seems that every time I think I have this stuff figured out I'm wrong, thank goodness the target never lies.
I have bullet hold above seating in order of sequence.
