Well I bought a bargain on a Tikka T3, 24" stainless in 6.5 PRC the other day, A buddy had bought it new, and shot 50 rounds thru it with 2 different loads, 147 eld and 150 Lapua , both shot great, in the low .3's for 3 shot groups, letting it cool between group 5 minutes. He had it for a month, then another friend just had to have it, so they did a swap, that guy never fired it and I saw it on consignment at a local gun shop for $600, so I bought it has a picatinny rail on it and great trigger. I will be using H1000 in it with some 140 and 142 gr bullets mostly for long range steel plate plinking and deer, hog and bear hunting. I may also try some 130 Sierra Game changers, since they shoot so dang great in my 6.5 CM Sig Cross. Anyit help with these bullet weights would be appreciated from Tikka shooters who are shooting this caliber. I usually find my best loads within 1.5 -2.5 grains of maximum load data.
The first 6.5 PRC I had was a lemon, a CVA Cascade with 26" fluted barrel with a brake, factory stock rifle. The best group it would do was 1.75 and 2 to 3 inch groups were the norm, did extensive load developments, cleaned it regularly and the longer I worked with it the worse it got. I sold it to a guy who thought he could get it to shoot with the same results or worse, he ended up sending it back to CVA and they gave him a new 270 which shoots fantastic. After 3 rounds the barrel would nearly burn you if you touched it. I have had great luck with Cascades, I have a 243 that is a bugholer and have lined several more of them up in various calibers and all were great shooting factory rifles.
