Buffalo Bore 45 ACP+P (255gr)

My first question would be what are you shooting it out of?

Standard 1911 was never made, nor will it hold up to shooting +P loads.

Even my Walther PPQ is standard 45ACP pressures.

Glock 21 Gen 4
5.2” KKM Barrel and 4.6” KKM
22 pound Recoil Spring
Wolff Extra Power Mag Springs

Really like the 5.2” KKM gives about a 50 FPS boost to velocity. Never considered a single stacked 1911 capacity to low for Bear Protection.
I normally carry 12+1 in both G20 and G21.

A good standard 1911 steel frame can withstand 45 super and 460 Rowland if certain modifications are done ! Would you like me to give the modifications required?

Thanks!
I'm good.

I have no inclination to go higher pressure.
I've already dealt with a cracked slide.
Although it was covered under warranty, I feel some responsibility for it also.
Bought the pistol used, unknown round count, or maintenance.
I put roughly 1,100 rounds through it.
I did replace the springs at about 600 rounds. After I found out that it was recommended.
I'm about due to change springs again.
24lb on a 4" barrel Springfield Champion.

I shoot 45 super in my glock 21 also but i use a 24# spring and same barrel as yours. That frame can handle the full power 10mm, itll be fine with the 45 super. The heavier slide of the G-20 helps also. Have you unleashed it on a bear yet?
I should add, it still functions with standard acp loads. It doesnt kick the empties out but a few feet but never a malfunction.
I'll have to try some of those bullets

Duplicating Buffalo Bore 45 ACP + P

Weighing actual BB 255gr RNFP it’s not 255gr it’s 250gr.

8.0 of Longshot
Rim Rock Top Shelf RNFP .451 250gr Hardcast
Starline Brass
Fed 150
1.190”
4.6” KKM G21
990 FPS
Lee Factory Crimp
I'd find a nice S&W Model 629. Early in Glock days there we several KA-BOOMS that were credited to the use of lead bullets in Glock barrels. Theory was that lead from the bullets was adhering to the bore and pressures climbed until the gun came apart. And, a good revolver NEVER jams.

I have a recent Thunder Ranch Model 1950 22-4 that is fun for this type of loading as well.

I ended up with 8.0 W572 & 240gr cast 16-1 .452 Accurate 452423 Keith with Winchester LP Primer and Starline AR brass 1000 FPS

Good times…should work pretty well for deer as well.

I used the tungsten guide rod but only went up to 19 pounds on the spring. using the longer SilencerCo barrel and a compensator. Works well from standard to Super, I have literally never had a jam with it. I use the large Lone Wolf frames as they fit more like a 1911 but 9 mm size while taking standard Glock mags.

Glock 21 Gen 4
5.2” KKM 22 pound spring
Wolff Extra Power Mag Spring
Great Trail Load No Comp

Accurate No 9
CCI 350 Primer
Winchester 45 ACP Brass or Starline Nickle 45 ACP brass
250gr Rim Rock TS RNFP .451” Hardcast
1.200”
Lee Factory Crimp
Cronograph

12.0 @ 998 FPS ( 45 ACP + P)
12.6 @ 1075 FPS ( 45 Super )
13.0 @ 1114 FPS ( 45 Super +P)

FYI : in 4.6” KKM the 13.0 load velocity is decreased to 45 Super 1098 fPS zone due to shorter barrel length .

Dispatched several moose for the last 3 years I have been carrying 45 Super 100 % penetration with 250gr Rim Rock TS Hardcast

I don’t use Glock barrels for trail !
Only Use KKM barrels for G20 and G21 45 Super both with 22 pound springs and heavy Hardcast Rim Rock Top Shelf Hardcast bullets.

I wouldn’t either, they’re not fully supported around the rim of the cartridge. I always use 45 Super brass as well, they are a bit thicker in the web. I’ve been using some AA#7 for +P and Mild 45 Super loads.

I started out with 45 Super brass in KKM but discovered Starline 45 Super brass is mainly made for unsupported or less supported barrels. I have no problem with 650-700 FPE loads in normal Winchester 45 ACP brass. No pressure signs on brass. Do not use +P brass as volume is lower so charges will have to adjusted downward.

Started with 45 Super with Accurate No 9 Powder with CCI 350 primers
Excellent results in 4.6” KKM.

250gr Rim Rock TS RNFP .451”
13.0 of AA9 with CCI 350 primer
WW Brass 1.200”
5.2” kKM 1114 FPS
4.6” KKM 1098 FPS

I have read others have loaded Win 45 ACP brass to 1000 FPE with success. But I have no need for that much energy for Bear protection in 45 Super and Glock 21.
