Shot form A Ruger American 22RF

I forgot to say anything about the action bedding . The RAR has it's own style action pillars that I think that is not bedded very good from the factory . So I bedded mine with Marine Tex , and the problem is getting the pillars just right so the rotary magazine will fit right . .And I'm going to have to redo mine some day because I can only single feed it now . more on this later .

More proof, if needed, that the US manufacturers can't make decent rimfire ammo!

My only experience of a Ruger American is a mate's 223 Ranch Rifle - which shoots very well with 75g pills. The action, due to the bottom lug dragging the round out is harsh and scratchy - but does the business very well - and uses an AR mag too.

Shot this today 1/22/26 in the Tuckertown BR Barn .When the weather warms up I'll be shooting out side . Shot with my Ruger American 22RF . All the info on the target . And I have a couple witness that i shot this .
What is the "American"? Is it a new and budget version of a 77/22?

Danny

Not too bad a day! I've come to enjoy shooting the .22LR again. Reminds me of shooting cast bullets out of the bigger guns. 200 and 300yd is a real challenge for me.

The question remains, though. Is it a budget rimfire?

Danny
Probably depends on the intended use. Around $600 retail and moving into the $900 range for certain variations. I wouldn't call that budget if you just need a general use RF. If you intend to shoot RFBR or one of long range disciplines and it will do it, then it's budget. I don't think it would be competitive off the rack in higher end competions.

I don't shoot competion anymore and I just had this barrel in the shop for about 10 years . And had this Ruger American 22RF that didn't shoot like I wanted. So one day I decided to put that barrel on the Ruger, and one thing led to another and now there isn't much Ruger left . And it has been a fun project. And yes it was not a budget project . Anyone can go out and buy a $1800 22rf rifle and have a good shooter, but I had fun seeing what I could do with this gun . OK ???
