this is what i have done to the rifle .
Shilen Barrel , Anarchy bolt handle and knob , Jard trigger , Boyd stock , Kidd magazine release , Savage trigger guard , Not much Ruger left . Yes I wasted a good barrel on a Ruger , but it was fun .

NEW?? come out about 10 years ago .What is the "American"? Is it a new and budget version of a 77/22?

That's new, to me. I don't watch what is currently offered.NEW?? come out about 10 years ago .
I think the first Ruger American 22Rf come out in 2012.That's new, to me. I don't watch what is currently offered.

The question remains, though. Is it a budget rimfire?I think the first Ruger American 22Rf come out in 2012.
Absolutely NOT! But has been fun playing with . I didn't say anything about a budget rifle .The question remains, though. Is it a budget rimfire?
Danny
Ok, thanks for clearing up the mystery.Absolutely NOT! But has been fun playing with .
Probably depends on the intended use. Around $600 retail and moving into the $900 range for certain variations. I wouldn't call that budget if you just need a general use RF. If you intend to shoot RFBR or one of long range disciplines and it will do it, then it's budget. I don't think it would be competitive off the rack in higher end competions. The question remains, though. Is it a budget rimfire?
Danny
I don't shoot competion anymore and I just had this barrel in the shop for about 10 years . And had this Ruger American 22RF that didn't shoot like I wanted. So one day I decided to put that barrel on the Ruger, and one thing led to another and now there isn't much Ruger left . And it has been a fun project. And yes it was not a budget project . Anyone can go out and buy a $1800 22rf rifle and have a good shooter, but I had fun seeing what I could do with this gun . OK ???Probably depends on the intended use.
