Gunbroker experiences?

Great forum. Ive done Dozens of deals, buying and selling. I got scammed once on a Sig product that when shipped was knock off Chinese junk. It was a too good to be true deal that I should have known better.
Good buyer / seller communication system that keeps individuals anonymity. It has a claims process for buyers protection. Look for sellers with a significant number of positive transactions. Of course ask all your questions before buying.

One bad, scoped Savage 220. Scope(Simmons) bent to the point mag ring wouldn't move at all. Description said scope and shotgun excellent. Seller said scope was not bent when shipped. I asked him to submit insurance claim, no phone or emails after that. At least it was a Simmons, which I was going to take off.

I have a little over 300 transactions on gunbroker, I’ve only had one bad experience where the seller didn’t come through. He had an auction for gun he didn’t have but I was refunded without issue. Since then I pay attention to the amount of transactions the seller has and their feedback. If I want more pics or have questions I’ll ask the seller, if they don’t answer or give little information I just move on.
Gunbroker is the worst thing to ever happen to a gun addict, you can price shop nationwide in minutes, find guns you’ve looked for decades. Occasionally there are some good deals, the opposite is true too, lots of high pricing. Also, pay attention to the shipping fees, if it’s not plainly listed ask the seller for a shipping quote. Some sellers will advertise a low buy it now price and make it up in their shipping. Some sellers get over 4% credit card fees too, it should be listed what they charge for CCs.
If the seller has few transactions I typically pass, if they have negative feedback I will pass. It’s like anything, verify what your getting, use some common sense and pay attention to the details. Quite a few of the bigger sellers will offer free shipping and no credit card fees. Good luck.

So the warranty on new firearms are the same as buying local shop? Just i would be dealing with browning instead on local shop i bought it from ?

This is something I've seen on Ebay as well. They look for stuff they can easily flip if they get it for a low price. Some list the item before the previous auction is complete. They get sniped at the last second so have nothing to sell.
Generally not a big deal; but when it's a .280 Super Grade you've wanted for a long time it really pisses a guy off when they email back 4 days later and say nope sorry, no got.

When selling, you can require buyer to pay the sales tax and shipping costs. Just indicate that requirement in your description of the item for sale.
E.g. If you're selling something for $500 & the sales tax and shipping will be $50 you can require buyer to pay you 550

@cjmac, since you're looking at new guns, I suggest you consider guns.com or galleryofguns. I've used both and had good results. With gunbroker, you're dealing with a variety of sellers. Vetting them can be difficult and results can vary. Roll of the dice to some extent.
Guns.com pulls from various dealer inventories, but guns.com is the entity you're directly dealing with. They are a reputable intermediate. Shop around their hits on your desired gun to find a price you're content with. You pick your transfer dealer.
Galleryofguns is also reputable. They are Davidson's, but for the individual rather than dealers. You get to pick a local dealer. The local dealer sets the price and you work with that dealer for transfers.
IMNHO, these are better sources for new guns than gunbroker. Gunbroker is better if you want a specific out-of-production gun, but caveat emptor.

I can’t answer that accurately. Local gun stores typically will send a firearm back to the manufacturer if there’s a warranty issue. If your buying through gunbroker and it’s a dealer I would imagine they may assist you but ultimately it’s you dealing with the problem. If you buy from an individual your on your own unless that seller offered an inspection period, which many do. Some auctions plainly state as is, some offer inspection periods, three days is typical. You can’t go shoot the gun and then return it, typically inspection periods means look it over, test for function and decide if your gonna return it or not. Ask your seller about his policy.
One other thing. Things happen with shipping. I did have one transaction I didn’t mention earlier where the shipper did a very poor job of packing the firearm. When it arrived to my FFL the buttstock was sticking out of the box and was badly cracked/broke at the grip, old Marlin lever. The seller made it right after my FFL photo documented the condition it arrived in. If I buy a firearm on gunbroker, especially a used firearm I emphasize packaging. It’s another question that should be asked before you bid or buy, that’s when feedback is a good tool, just like it is here.
Ive never had a firearm go missing but that also a risk you take when buying from a source that ships. Theft or carelessness from the shipper happens. That’s one advantage a local gun shop has over buying anything that requires shipping. You can handle and inspect the gun before you buy. Something to consider.

I use to work for Davidsons (Gallery of gus) back when Sig owned it before Brian Tucker bought it back in my college days at Yavapai. 5 star company and they stand behind their warranty. That was back in the early nineties. That’s a good option for sure.

Make sure to look at the buyers selling history, and also the history of the folks who left them feedback. I almost got burned on a purchase a couple of years back. The seller had lots of feedback from fake sales to other scam accounts he created.
That pretty much turned me off using Gunbroker for anything besides a value estimator. You can login and look at past auctions that actually sold and it's better than using the Blue Book.
Many legit sellers on Gunbroker are large dealers. When you figure how much Gunbroker takes out of every sale, you are better off just calling the dealer and asking them their direct price.
It's really a shame that pretty much every marketplace is loaded up with scammers. If they ask you to pay via some sketchy method, it's a scam.

If you are buying a new firearm and do not have a ffl, you will need a local ffl to handle the transaction. Show him what you found and have him see if he can do better.
Problem with our local guns shops is thay have marked there rifles up hundreds more than there worth . Just seen one on guns.com for 1400.99 local wants 1900
Personally, I won't deal with them.
