I know they're out of stock everywhere, but Scheels actually had at least one in stock. It arrived yesterday late afternoon. Set it up, tested and annealed some brass today.
I've been annealing brass for decades with a few different flame and induction annealers. I definitely like it and it's much easier on my hands(arthritis). Nice to be able to load up the hopper and let it rip. I ran a couple hundred cases(.223 and .300 PRC) and watched pretty much every case and had zero concerns or issues(no jambs or overheats). I used Tempilaq for testing and spot checking, but I always go for the red/cherry flash when I anneal.
Honestly, I do feel a little more in touch with the process when using my Annie and the Annie "might" be slightly more consistent. Then again, the Annie is only as consistent as you are with your placement of the brass in the coil. The BF is more than consistent enough for me though.
There's more setup time with the BF when changing brass than with the Annie, but I documented my settings for the 2 different .223 cases and the .300 PRC so it should be much quicker next time around.
I always thought flame annealing was a PITA so I switched over to induction many years ago. Seemed like the torches/flames never stayed consistent and I was always tinkering with them.
