What's up with Remington, are they gone again?

I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s about 10 miles west of the Ilion plant. They were the hunters gun and my Christmas list was built from their catalog. Had many friends and relatives that worked at the 200 year old company. When they finally shuttered the plant last year many grown men and women around here shed tears. There was no good reason for this to happen except greed and the honest fact that many of the Robber Baron’s hate the Second Amendment.

Ruger bolt actions are "cast steel".

I believe that "most if not all" custom bolt actions are "forged steel". Other than the high-quality forged aluminum actions made by Kelblys!
Most actions are machined alloy rod
Not forged
Last forged actions I know about were Mauser and Springfield

I know Gun Repair Center in Jacksonville has got a lot of parts especially the H&R line .
GRC is selling off a bunch of Remington owned guns from their research department on Gun Broker. I just bought a Savage Model 12 in 22-250 from them that basically looks unfired. It had a metallic tag on the stock identifying it as property of Marlin's research department.

i bought 2 or 3 of them | thats all i could find. anyway wat did you do with 20 ?

“cheaper they get” yeah i have 10 or so and may as well shoot them as i cant get anything these days 4 them
Added Bartlein barrels, trigger tech triggers, and various stocks. Test fired so I had really good groups to show, then sold them.

Good to hear someone else mention the Robber Barons. It's like the end of the 19th century all over again. I'm waiting for them to realise how unpopular they've become and suddenly become philanthropists!

Still have my 700 VLSS thumbhole in 204, skeetlee has it right now for a new krieger barrel!
Looking forward to many more good years of fun with it!

I have a 2011-2 Remington CDL. Never was a great shooter, partly due to my own errors. I don’t have any experience with their older models but I had a new Douglas Hunter barrel on it and it shots under one MOA.

Not meant for FClass or BenchRest. But it’s a good gun, and I can place dots at a hundred.

What happened in their QC or manufacturing? Is it as smooth as my FTR rifle…. No, but does the bolt zip when I move it back and forth like my new Anschutz 1761 does… no.

I’m not saying my action is special. Just trying to understand what changed in the actions.
