Lonesome Dove is one of the best novels I have ever read. Top five. I can't recommend it enough. It takes a few pages to get going, but it is superb. Even if you aren't much of a reader, I think you would enjoy it.

One of my all time favorites, if he was in a movie the chances of me watching it went up drastically.

King of the one liners.

Maybe some of the younger generation will discover his work.

Open Range, Lonesome Dove, Second hand lions were a few of my favs but the list is long. One of my favorite scenes is when he grabs that young punk by the throat in Second Hand Lions and proceeds to tell him who he is!

RIP, you left your mark and will be missed.

I agree that you better just enjoy the entertainment part of it or you will just be disappointed.
Last night we were watching the Olympics and felt sorry for a American girl skater that had a bad performance, come to find out later all she had been doing the entire time over there was bad mouthing America. Maybe it comes back around.
