The guy I used to know who did hot bluing was adamant that anything that went into a hot caustic bluing tanks was absolutely clean.The Cerakote will be removed, and in the process, the bluing solution will probably be ruined. You need to remove the Cerakote first. That 'hot bluing tank' is not only hot thermally (280F), but 'hot' chemically, also.

It's been awhile, but IIRC he had a hot cleaning tank everything went into before it was blued. Added an extra step/day but he had his tanks contaminated once and had -0- interest in it happening again.
I doubt you'll find anyone who will blue any part with cerakote on it *if* they know what they're doing.
