iOS 26 not playing well with ShotMarker

On my iPhone and iPad that were updated to the most recent iOS, I am having issues connecting to the access point. In addition, once connected, if I swap to another window then back to ShotMarker, it won’t reconnect unless I ‘forget’ the SM network and reload it. That works every time but is a major PITA! A fellow F class shooter is having the same problem. Any others? I am about to shoot off an email to Adam and see if they are seeing that and are figuring out a work around.

Clear out your cache. Make sure all browser windows are closed out. Then do a hard reboot. As you have already done, "forgetting" the Shotmarker network and reconnecting can help

I'm on iOS 26 and IPadOS 26 and currently have no troubles with Shotmarker on either device. I have had troubles connecting on occasion, but it's always been leftover clutter getting in the way. The above steps have always fixed the headache.

I also noticed that, once connected, if I try to import strings, it will allow the normal process until I hit the choose selected strings button, then it will disconnect from the SM network, not import the string, and I have to go through all the machinations again. I guess I will have to dig out that ancient Samsung tablet buried in my old gear. :(

I've noticed this mostly with non Apple devices. Since there isn't an internet connection it makes you jump through hoops to stay connected/reconnect. My newest Kindle is bad about it but I can usually manage.

Make sure if you see a popup that says something about "not being connected to internet, do you want to keep trying wifi, make sure you click keep trying wifi" not sure the exact wording but keep trying wifi is the key.

I did not have any problems today using my iPhone 16 on IOS 26.3 once I closed out the app and made sure the wifi was on Shotmarker. I usually use an old iPad 2, but for some reason the battery was dead when I went to use it. Had taken it off the charger last night and set it next to the rifle case, spotting scope, and Garmin so as not to forget it. May have turned on and stayed on all night which I did not notice with the cover closed.

Well "sho nuff" after I said above I have no troubles with iOS 26 and Shotmaker, today was different. I could not connect to the access point. I connected fine first thing in the morning, then I shut down my iPad for a while. Could not reconnect. Went through the steps I mentioned above. No joy. Restarted the access point. Entered the IP address manually instead of using my shortcut. Then contemplating my next move the iPad connected automagically. Apparently it need a long while to find all its marbles. Weird.

@rardoin Anything new that fixed your troubles?

I will do that @Nvcnvc . I just installed Firefox and set it as my default browser. I read that Safari is having issues associated with the recent update. I use Firefox on my PC. DuckDuckGo has some odd quirks. But I prefer both compared to Chrome (ugh) or Edge (double ugh).

As @prone.life mentions, I am only able to connect after ‘forgetting’ the SM network and reloading. I
Laura McDonald stated that they have received several emails about this issue and are looking into it. I will try a different browser.

Update- Against better judgement, I allowed another iOS update this morning and then tried to connect to the SM access point. In a couple of connects, close out of the connection, and reconnects, it has worked flawlessly. It seems that the bug introduced by the prior iOS update has been fixed.....fingers crossed.

I conducted a few tests this morning. Short story is that I still observe connectivity problems with iPadOS 26.2.1, the latest one. Two iPads, an iPad Pro 11 inch and and iPad Air 4th generation. I tried with Safari and again with Firefox each time set as the default browser. Despite clearing the cache, no joy. What did work, as suggested by @prone.life was forgetting the shotmarker network and re-establishing it. It worked every time on both iPads and with either Safari or FIrefox. As an aside, a cheapo Android tablet had no heartburn at all. This suggests that iPadOS 26 and probably iOS 26, implemented something incompatible with the Shotmarker access point's firmware. At least, there's a workaround.

The pain in the arse is that I had to forget and reconnect if the screen timed out and I had to unlock the pad. Setting the screen timeout to never is a solution. It just chaps my backside that Apple screws up perfectly fine software with their all too frequent updates.

Not so smart, but if I have my Phone and Tablet at the Range and close to my Shot Marker Hub and the Range Building has WiFi. The Phone and Tablet are all tring for the Shot Marker.
I leave my Phone off and use the Shot Marker only. May be just my problem ?
Just a post to maybe Help?????

Still having issues in spite of my perceived success after the most recent update to the update. Following the advice of others, I downloaded Firefox as a browser and all is well again.

That's interesting . . . rather, that's perplexing! I tried Firefox on two iPads as I mentioned above but it didn't fix my troubles. I wonder what steps you took that I may have omitted? I let both devices automatically join "known" networks of which Shotmarker is one. I will try turning off the auto-join setting. I may also try (arghhhh...) Chrome.
