Question? How do the wild horses survive?
They migrate to areas where the feed isn’t covered by 6 feet of snow and hopefully open water. The Wyoming wind does a pretty good job of keeping the ground clear in some areas.

Not uncommon to mix horses and cattle in snow country, the horses will forage and dig through the snow for feed, and break ice for water. The cattle, not so much.

But if there is a big winter kill of deer, antelope and elk, horses in the area won’t do much better.

Yes. Like TOO mild. Temps have been 40-50 degrees above average. Still cold by many peoples’ standards (20-30 degrees nightly) but usually it’s -20 or lower at night by now. Main thing is the lack of substantial snow. Being in the high desert, much of the year’s water supply normally is in snow form. Wildfire season in coming…
