Wicked Cold Weather This Week

Right now by La Crosse WI -18 degrees and wind chill of -30
up in northern wi actual air temp -30 and wind chill -50
Days like this I pray for farmers, frozen pipes tneding to cattle, horses, homeless, vehicles that wont start. people in need.

I lived in Chicago area for years and lots of time in Wisconsin.
To one and all in those areas wishing you the very best.

We had Horses frozen water, heat rap pipes, we don't miss those days.
Spring is on the way.

The department I work for in public works is on will call, we're getting things prepared and most likely we will have to assist water department with main breaks as this sort of weather usually causes them to happen.
Praying this round of weather doesn't try and outdo the last 2 big winter storms where we had the cobblestone ice in 2012 and the weeklong snowmageddon freeze of 2021.

Plow truck stays in the garage tonight. Trickle charger gets plugged into
the car tonight after grocery shopping. Incoming water has a special heat
wrap with a note......Turn on when below 10 degrees.

We just moved out of Wisconsin because of the weather. Been there 66 years. Coldest I ever saw was -31 without the wind, warmest was 104.

Another Wisconsin resident here. Lived here 61 years and through a lot of cold but apparently now there is going to be massive carnage and disruption and possible death from exploding trees. This has never been a problem until social media keyboard commandos apparently were the first to identify it. Cracking, creaking, moaning, from trees yes I have heard that, but never seen an exploding tree. I am ready though with my battle armor to defeat this apocalypse.

I'm on my way down to garage right now to start working on replacing the scraper on the snow blower, will also pull the generator out and get it ready. When I finish, I will go to the gas station and fill up the cans, just in case.
Predictions are for at least 20" of snow with temps in the -12 to 12 for the next 4-5 days. We haven't seen this in about 10 years. Glad I am no longer on the F.D. those were long mandatory shifts, 3-4 days with no breaks.
Only regret is I didn't move south when I retired.

Winter. Happens every year. It’s even on the calendar so it doesn’t sneak up on ya. Also, when the leaves fall, family shows up and ya eat turkey, dead giveaway.

Down here in Kerrville, Texas, we’re supposed to get a little icing. Everybody’s freaking out. I’m just staying home for a couple days. No big deal.
