Wicked Cold Weather This Week

No gators very close to here, locals tend to eat them when they are this close to houses. But there is a water containment area 4 or 5 miles down the road, and a sweep of the truck headlights at night shows many hundreds of eyes. The lopes would be something for them to herd, and if they could not get them into a bunch in a fence corner some where they would kill themselves trying.

8 foot high fence runs about $5/ft. around here. My neighbor/cousin put it up to keep them off thier property. (They were eating her plantings) It also keeps the dogs in.

I parked the Kubota up y the house in anticipation of the snow. It looks like I might actually have to plow. If we get a foot and a half, we can break out the snowshoes. The forecast calls for temps to fall to around 0 F (still not very cold) and the snow cover is good for the shrubbery. WH

I spent 2 hours in the skid steer, cleaning out the driveway (about a half mile of it). I was surprisingly tired after spending two hours sitting on my ass in a machine! This might be age related. Two small trees down. With a pretty heavy snow and no wind, there are a lot of trees which suffer from what is known in horticultural circles as EDIT (Erectile Disfunction In Trees). This mostly affects red fir and lodgepole pine. Two years ago, we had 13 trees down across the drive when we left for our visit to Florida, and another half dozen down when we came back. WH
