Back to the Future..

Oh okay, that’s a smart move.
Another marriage conundrum, you don’t know when the wife wants space or attention?
ALWAYS! Christmas Eve, I delivered a coffee cake to my LGS guy and I stopped by our local donut shop to get a dozen for the Post Office workers. I grabbed myself 6 glazed and an apple fritter for my wife, ‘cause she loves them. I arrived home with one glazed donut and the fritter and put the box in front of her. I got a ten minute tirade about “undermining her diet” and not being a “supportive husband”! She circled the box for a good half hour before she grabbed the fritter and ate the whole thing while growling at me like a wolf on a kill, I didn’t even get a bite of it.

Dandy people - you’ve all probably seen my ad on here before (Dandy controller). When running at Slo and VSlo (very slow) it’s pretty quiet (depending on what you choose for settings). It doesn’t run continuously as when the button is pressed, it runs in short bursts. In VSlo it might only be On for 10 to 20 milliseconds and Off for as long as it takes for the scale to settle. Even the FX takes some time to decide if that last .0x wants to stay where you want it.

Even with tuning the Chargemaster, I found years ago I could throw/trickle faster than than the Chargemaster. It was also usually more accurate. Anymore, the CM collects dust and is occasionally used to verify charge weights from the 505.
those are some reasons i never purchased a chargemaster.

Got real tired of waiting for the Charge Master to drop a powder charge. So I dug out the ol RCBS Uni-Flo bought in the mid 70's. Also my 5-10 scale bought at the same time. Using H380 loading 22-250 it was dead nuts on. Checked the first ten then one in five. Always good. Never missed. And was a ton faster than waiting on the Charge Master. Have been thinking about a Harrells but my re-think that.
I retired my Chargemaster. Nothing wrong with it, just got tired of waiting for the (for my machine) 25-minute warm-up, but mostly the slow charge rate. I retired my RCBS powder hopper when I bought a Harrell's around 16 years ago. You get spoiled with the Harrell's. I throw with the Harrell's and weigh on a digital scale with large numerals on the display, trickle with my fingers. Fastest method I have used so far. Takes away a lot of the fatigue as well. If you buy a used Harrell's on this site, you won't have much problem recovering your money on a sale if you don't like it.

I've used a CM since they came out. I'm not getting what you folks are talking about being so slow. I hit the button, pull the tray after it beeps and I confirm the weight, dump it into the brass and then set the tray back on the load cell. It starts the next drop while I'm seating the bullet. The timing is almost perfect with my system.

It's definitely not as fast as throwing loads with the Lyman 55 but much faster than trickling with the Dandy and the 10-10.

I highly recommend visiting the best donut shop in town at least once a month! I’m partial to plain old glazed donuts. I’ve sampled all the shops in town and found the best. Turns out to be just a few blocks from my favorite gun shop. Sitting around eating donuts and looking at guns while discussing politics is a great pastime!
On all the electronic devices: I don’t trust them. I can’t fix them. I won’t wait for them to “warm up”. My mechanical scale is ready to go, 24/7, even in a power outage.

I’m thinking about one of those new Hornady power trimmers long before a AMP. To be able to trim, chamfer, and deburr all in one step would be a game changer.
