Anyone recognize this Anschutz action?

IMG_7494.jpegIMG_7495.jpegSo I happened on to this action and trigger today.
Would anyone be able to tell me what it is and if it’s a good one? The trigger is extremely light. If more pictures are required let me know.

Thank you for the help!!

2013 is what it appears to be?These are oftentimes great actions and there were offerings from lilja barrels that shot great with them

Solid action!

Appears to be a 2007/2013. Model difference in the barrel and stock not the action. Is it good? It's excellent but different. The problem with it is the four stock screws. It's hard to get the torque correct. I've had three. Never could get it figured out for the first two, but the third had a Speedy Gonzalez bedding system which effectively makes it two screw bedding. I bought it for a $1,000 or so. It will compete easily with other more expensive rifles I own. But you really need that bedding system. The barrel is clamp on. The one that came with mine looks like an old Time but it's very good.

The trigger is the same as the 54 Super Match or a 5018. The rifle, I think, as originally marketed as a BR-50 model. Google

Harvey's Hot Rod Anschütz BR-50 ...

Some descriptions list it as a Model 54. Maybe Anschutz calls it that and there are similarities but the flat bottom, clamp on barrel, etc, make it something different. It is a series 2000 action.

The trigger mechanism looks to be the standard 5018 with the safety catch remived. The trigger blade is homemade, lump of metal and a screw.

I'm not sure if the block behind the trigger housing is attached to the trigger, or to the receiver. I think I see a hole to access the rear trigger retaining screw. It's not a factory part, and I'm not sure what it does.

The serial number 271524 indicates a date of 1996. perhaps as early as 1995.

As noted above, a key difference between this 2007/13 action and the usual round 1907/13 action is that this one clamps the barrel while the other is press fit.

Among Anschutz shooters they were popular during the first decade or so after their release in the early 1990s for the easier barrel changing capability. But as suggested above and elsewhere, the barrel change was not always as simple a matter as desired.

Since you mentioned it, a word of caution here. You tested the trigger but you do not want to dry fire any high grade RF action,
If you want to test it put a spent case in there.

Suspect that block is some cobbed up bedding block for rear tang.Unknown what type of stock it lived in.

I did wonder about that, but I've never heard of anyone adding a bedding bolt there to an anschutz, so discarded the idea.

A tang beddibg bolt isn't unusual per se, quute the opposite in fact, but I'm notxsyre what it would add. I'd also expect something less shonky looking.

The rear block may have been for a rear action screw. I never really seen the underside of one of these actions but just after the first barrel tenon screw in the center is a drilled and tapped hole which does not look factory could this have been the front action screw?

I would if there was a barrel to put it in. But thank you for the information.

Hi Lee,

Yes, there does appear to be an extra hole. I'd say it's roughly where the front bedding screw would be on a Match 54.

The block at the rear only has one hole though. If it's for a bedding screw, that has to do double duty holding on the trigger too.

It's not clear that there's an extra hole that's non-factory. Below is the bottom view of a 20xx receiver from 1996 that hasn't been modified.

The screw with red epoxy is the set screw for aligning the extractors.

Almost correct. No big deal but that screw is to lock down the cup head to the left, down into action, which indexes on a flat on the tenon. Once bbl was installed you wanted to back that off a bit.

Tim, you're right I didn't notice the rear block has a hole to access the rear mounting screw for the trigger.
