CMP did it new F class category

It looks like an AT tactical rifle may be able to be combined upwards into the new F-P category….. if there are not enough competitors (in a category).

If I am reading correctly, the Trigger and Barrel on the AR could be disqualifying……but I think I would let them shoot together in a club match.

A bit like our FPR - must have a magazine cut out, under 8mm, folding bi pod etc. Hasn;t really taken off - but growing. We dont have a $ limit.
The UK could do with something similar, if they haven't already. I probably know twenty or thirty people with that kind of equipment for every one with an F class rifle. It's a good way to introduce new people to the sport.

Our club used to have a F/Tactical class. It was less about restricting guns and more about putting the varmint/prs/factory guns together to compete on a same/same basis. I understand the need for rules, however I don't see this class being needed at a national level aside from providing guidance to clubs, but should be viewed as an easy access jumping off point for those thinking of F/O or F/TR, or a comfortable class for the casual competitor.

I'd really hate to see a class like this get "gamed" by higher level competitors looking for easy wins since it is designed to be entry level.

A small modification to the rifle can be made :)

Barrel. May have a maximum barrel length of 26 inches. Rifles may have a replacement barrel if the replacement barrel retains the original factory barrel contour. The cost of a replacement barrel is not included in calculating total retail costs of rifles and equipment. Barrel tuners, or items attached to the barrel that act as a tuner are not allowed.

So a suppressors is not a tuner? :)

They really need to do a class for PRS style rifles. Basically require bipods and allow brakes. Maybe require the gun/ammo to be mag fed (or at least capable of.)

Steel and paper shooters are two different breeds and it’s always been hard to get one group to try or stay with the other game.

Hits on steel offer instant feedback and that really appeals to a lot of people. Also, on steel a hit is a hit. Center hits or edge hits, doesn’t matter. Some disciplines even a bounced in bullet hit counts.

Anyway, good to see suppressors gaining acceptance in the HP world. I’ve gotten to where I don’t like shooting without one and I have rifles that have never been shot without their can.
