Q re NFA Trust for Suppressor Ownership

I’m getting my can (Enticer L) through a local shop.

It seems like a trust is a must have in order to allow others to use it. Other than Silencer Shop, what service provider have you used to create your trust? And, what makes one provider better than another?

There are other online trusts if you search. Palmetto State Armory lists one for $79.95. You can also search and see if there are lawyers in your state that handle them, but they can be more expensive. Usually local lawyers work with NFA’s in their state only. I am lucky in that SC, where I am has a great NFA trust lawyer that I use. Robert Merting. He spent an hour on the phone explaining every detail of my trust. When the ATF issues rulings he sends out emails explaining how it affects us. Personally I like the option of contact other than through a computer.

Ok, possession with you not present. A trust with each person who would have access/own/possess the NFA item. Fingerprints/background check for each trustee.
Correct. I I don’t see that happening much if ever, but I figure just in case, it is worthwhile to have a trust set up like that. It would mainly be for my kids use in the future I guess.

A trust is nice when you want others (people listed on the trust) to be able to posses it without you being there. But if you are just getting one in the event of your death, the ATF Form 5 takes care of that. It is a tax free transfer in the event of the owners death.

But I still recommend getting a trust because it opens a lot of doors.

Years ago when I wanted to use a trust, I had a hard time convincing family or friends to go thru the fingerprint/information process. Even family who had/have national security clearance. Kind of frustrating for us that plan ahead.

My trust lawyer indicated it is good to have the other adults listed as co-trustees so they could not be accused off being in possession of an NFA item if visited by law enforcement. This was during the Obama years when that could have been a real threat. Fortunately I got my trust before fingerprints were required.
