Pulled bullets?

Bought some 75g ELDMs for my 1K trainer bolt 223 Wylde that were pulled. Was wondering if they're going to shoot to the same standards as non pulled bullets? Can clearly see and feel the indent right around the ogive.

Well, dang it. I may just put them off to the side then and get a fresh box. Although, now I am a bit curious to see how they will shoot. There's only 1 box of them, got 20 boxes of new ones to go through. Just figured I'd get rid of the ugly ones first haha. Going to use these mainly for coyotes this winter, so won't be shooting much past 600 yards with them.

Never had damage like that. You must be really tightening the puller. Just tighter enough to get the job done. Is the entire bearing surface in the neck? Your almost grabbing the ogive. Like someone else said shoot them and see what happens. It may have damaged the bond between the brass and lead?

I didn't pull them, I bought them like that. I didn't know they were going to be that bad however...I use a kinetic puller when I have to pull bullets. I don't like, nor use the collet style pullers.

Think I'm just gonna load up 10 with my proven load and see how they do. Typically shoots .6"-.7" for 10 shots at 100 yards with new bullets. Even if it does 1 MOA for the 10 shots, it should be sufficient enough for coyotes out to 5-600 yards.

My other concern with them is how they're going to measure with the Hornady ogive comparator. Since the pull marks are pretty much on or near the ogive...

I'll keep ya guys posted for sure.

Shot this a couple of weeks ago with 73 gn Bergers I had pulled to raise the powder charge. Not as good as fresh, but will be reasonable for practice. Second target was same rifle and bullets with a 24.2 gn load to equal the 2650 produced by FGMM. New bullets are usually much more consistent. The 7 oclock flyer on the last target would not usually happen with new bullets. Whatta Hobby!

Almost looks like they were griped by a side cutter or some sort of plier for grip and then having the press pull down on the case for extraction…
I have used a Foster puller over the years to pull a few rounds and with their collet style puller {like a collet setup for a lathe} that grips fully around the projectile but grips at the case mouth level and the bullets have never shown any damage like shown here.
Even works on military ball, and they appear to have some sort of sealant to waterproof the cartridge. Seating them down a touch to break the seal first, really helps.
Pulled bullets get used for fouling shots and initial “On the Plate” okay on a pulled target before shooting on an electronic one…. Just don’t want to hit a sensor! =$$$$

I feel your pain. Two examples of pulled bullets from a pulled bullet company. You never know what you'll get until you get them in hand. PXL_20251101_212821412.jpg

The 175 ABLR are unusable for anything other than fouling shots. The 140 SST is good to go for accurate ammo. It is what it is.

It doesnt do any good to have good equipment if you dont know how to use it, my old man used to say. Speaking for myself, I pulled some with a hornady collet puller, looked like they got run over by a train. Doug

For all of you that pull bullets (eventually you all will) do yourself a favor and get a Grip and Pull. For 50 or 60 $$ it saves a lot of head aches and so far I have not damaged a bullet yet, I have the hammer and I have collet pullers both could be thrown out, collets will damage the bullet and I am not comfortable hammering on a bullet.

Go on their site and watch the videos a lot of you will change how you do it. I did.
I just went on their web site and the price has gone down $15.

I have a Hornady Cam Lock puller which functions just like a collet. If you set it up right you can pull bullets and it will leave the faintest of marks on the bullet. Not enough to feel with your fingernail, but just enough to see a burnish mark.

I used a Forster version before I got the Hornady, and it was just as effective, but it was more cumbersome to use if you have a bunch that you want to pull.
