Full length sizing issue

Always just neck sized. Got new barrel. Bolt hard to close with existing cases. Tried full size resizing with my hornady match die. About half of the case will not go all the way into my hornady case gage. 6.5 creed. Any ideas. They just barely stick out

When you got a new barrel, was it reamed with the same reamer that you're old barrel was done with?

New barrels with different reamers used to shape the chamber, it's common to have this kind of issue when brass has been fired in another barrel. One is just lucky when brass fired in another barrel can be sized and used in another new barrel.

You might be able to size your Hornady cases to work once in the new barrel, but the sizing from being fired kind of sets how the brass expands as it's already been hardened over time. You best bet is to simply do as L.Sherm has suggested . . . get some new brass (like, any time you get a new barrel). Then you can avoid this kind of issue.

Original factory mossburg. New gun smith installed.

Retire the old brass with the old barrel/chamber. Invest in new brass for the new one.

You'll battle sizing issues/clickers until you do.

Why don't I have this issue with my AR15 uppers?
I buy brass in large lots. Before the brass is tossed after 6-8 firings, I've gone ~ 10-15 different barrels.

Is it because all the barrels are Wylde chamber?

Thanks

Bass, the easy way, start with new brass. However, figure out the issue and you have learned more about your new barrel, fired brass and your die. Measure the length of your sized brass. Try a long one vs one of the shortest, does the bolt close with different effort. Color up(marker) a case, chamber and remove, is there any shining spots indicating contact?
0.002 is an often mentioned "bump" however it is not applicable when using fired brass from different barrel(s). You need to determine if the brass is useable in your barrel. When I use brass in different rifles I use an ammo checker to set the sizing die and check the brass(every piece) and I check after loading is complete. This will ensure all ammo has no fitment issues.

I'd venture a guess that your old barrel wasn't set at minimum headspace and the gunsmith set your new barrel at minimum. You *might* be able to adjust your FLS die to size your old brass to fit your chamber. If it were me, I'd just buy a new lot of brass for your new barrel.
As for your AR-15s, those chambers are most likely on the larger side of specifications and so when you FLS, the brass easily fits those chambers.

Again, this is just a guess based on the information you provided. Hard to know for sure without seeing things in person.
