Keep in mind that QL calculations are very loose as there many variations involved and more so when there's no specific velocity information for a powder to adjust the burn rate. Powders can vary much from one lot to another. So, don't take the QL calculations too seriously and work up your own data for the powder you have starting low and working up.

Like. . . very first thing I do with new powder, even though I use QL as a guide, is run a ladder of loads for pressure going low charges to higher to find where I begin to see pressure signs. This helps me decide on a starting point for my load development for a new powder.

Straightshooter..thanks for the quik load data..
I typically do a ladder test as well.. i dont have any benchmark on hand, was just curious of differences between loads / powder.. also have 4 manuals and hodgdon on line.. but again just curious of QL data..
Thanks again for the help!

Brassmonkey..
I was just aski g abouut QL data between both powders.. i have the Hornady manual along with 4 others, and also Hodgdon online..i use them all..
Again..was interested in data from QL between the 22 powders.
Thanks for the input

Benchmark and 25.0 gr with a 55 gr VMAX and LC brass is my node in a Rem 700 with a 26" barrel 1/12 twist. Your node is going to be very close to that. I'd go .5 grain down and work up from there.

Vonb.. thanks for the help.. I don’t have any Benchmark on hand.. but plenty of A2460.. but reading Benchmark seemed to be another good powder for 223.. I have used benchmark in my 204, but found the A2460 to be more accurate in the 204. And I eventually gave the Benchmark to my uncle. Just wanted to compare the 2.. I see benchmark on the shelves at local GS.
Thanks again

For a 12" twist, I found 55 grain bullets idea, especially the 55 Nosler BT and the 55 Vmax a close second.

I used Benchmark for a while and got some very tight groups, at least for me, in the 1/2 moa area. However, I found that slight changes in powder charge produced high pressure signs in my rifles which puzzled me since all extruded powders I've used over the years seem fairly tolerant of a few grains of charge changes relative to pressure signs.

Also had my best performance with Federal 205M match primers and Remington 7 1/2 primers.

I finally settled on H4895 / IMR 4895 and Varget as my powders of choice which I've used for years now.
