Non-Lead Bullet Mandate in UK

hi as you might know any bullets that contain lead are being banned in the uk in 2029, this ban applies to calibers from 6mm upwards, any calibre under 6mm you can carry on using your favourite bullet, now here is where it gets crazy, i shoot a 243win i love it i use berger 68 gr match bullets in my 243 win on fox and small deer roe, which will be banned, but here is the crazy thing i can shoot the same weight bullet in my 223rem or mr 22.250 and thats perfectly legal, its stupid, so its illegal to use and shoot one 68 gr bullet, in a 243, rifle but its perfectly legal to shoot the same bullet in my 223 and 22.250, only in the uk, please dont go like the uk we are sinking fast, this once great nation it is being run by lunitics . bs

Death by a thousand cuts. Very soon you won't be legally shooting those bullets in 22 cal either.

It's almost as though the people who pass these laws actually have no idea what they are talking about.
matey you have hit the nail on the head, we are being run by non politicians, this lead ban has come from europe, but the last i heard gt britain is a sovereign nation and nothing to do with it i despair. bs

California went lead free for any firearm used to take any game. Be sure to clean any copper from jacketed bullets out before shooting unleaded bullets.

Is that still true? I know early on there was a lot of talk about the solids not liking the leftover gilding metal from conventional bullets, but I haven't heard that in quite a while.

Same thing is happening here. Don't feel all alone. The intent is of course to disarm the population over time.

That said, English history is littered with restrictions on weapons ownership or the carrying of weapons in public. Swords in particular and it sounds like there are a number of pointy objects outlawed even in the present day. Eventually only government will be allowed to own firearms and pointy objects and the citizens whom the government presumably represents will be limited to sporks. At that point the aristocracy will be back in charge.

i truly hope not but i think you might be right

Even in the US, I think we are going to see leaded ammunition for hunting be phased out. Likely still be able to have leaded ammunition, keep or target shoot with it, I don't think the government has that power, at least not yet.

First it will likely be public land and then private, similar to the non-toxic shot requirements for waterfowl that has been in place for over 30 years.

I'll add that @bluesako's post is a little misleading in that the EU-REACH regulations lead rifle bullets restrictions as applied in the UK only apply to field-use. Target shooting has a derogation from the regulations providing the backstop sand is deleaded at appropriate intervals.

Rimfire ammunition is also exempt across the board as are airgun pellets. Shotgun users are more badly affected as the restrictions apply to both field and target shooting and there are at present no cartridge/calibre exemptions proposed which may see the death of some antiques and less common guns such as 9mm 'garden guns' for which nobody makes non-lead shot ammunition. Even the humble, but more common, .410 shotgun may be badly affected.

I have childhood ties to the Uk and am disgusted at what is happening over there. The way things are going will the UK even exist as you now it in 2029? Same with the 'United States' lol
