Looking for some advice for a bit of longer range stuff here in the UK......
So, we are a small island and space is at a premium. I have access to a 660 metre range nearby, but in July have an opportunity to stretch my 6mm BRA all the way to 1500 metres.......if it can get there.
This will be steel only. I really only shoot steel - not paper - as Im predominately a deer stalker; and manage a couple of private land deer poulations. However, dragging 60 kg culled Fallow around in the mud and cold has started to lose its appeal at 57......so getting more into other disciplines.
In terms of my BRA, I currently use 105 Barnes matchburners in front of N140 or some of my dwindling supply of Varget.....all in Lapua or Norma Brass. It's chambered on a Tikka action with a 28 barrel using a Manson reamer.
Think I will need to work up a new load with heavier Bergers (109) if I can get them over here. Hornady A tips are relatively easy to get ($140 per 100!)..... DTACs.......unobtanium.........
Powder wise, along with N140 and 2.5 tubs of Varget, I have plenty of N150, N160 and RS 52 - which is roughly in between N140 and N150 in burn rate.....
Any advice welcome on possible loads to consider. I know 1500 metres with a 6mm is a big ask, but as a novice long range shooter, I'm hoping for some potential tips/advice.
