Seeing these gorgeous older Remington's from the 70's and 80's makes me wish I was born about 30 years sooner. Luckily I snagged a 2004 dated vls when I was 15-16 and was able to experience some of the good Remington quality before the rails completely fell off with them

It appears to me that someone intentionally threw together the most hideous mis-mash of uncomplimentary parts available. IF it actually came from Remington, I have to believe it was intentionally done as some sort of 'inside joke'.
No rhyme or reason to it without knowing the 'joke' and again, I'm still skeptical as to the actual source.
