I have the opportunity to get a action with a Shilen 1-8 25" 260 Remington and plan on using it for just about anything mainly a trainer for my Nrl Hunter stuff. I assume 140's are about my best option. I will be shooting to 1k at my home range doing lots of positional work maybe even some coyote hunting with the 100gr vt. I have lots of imr4350, SW Long rifle and H4831SC. Let's hear your go to load.

I have ordered 100 rounds of 140gr Barnes Precision Match ammo to break the barrel in.

N160 n555 n550 are my go to powders, 130 hybirds 140 hybird 142 smks 139 136 scenars also shoot well all srp pete brass and lapua have 2 tactical rifle setup with bipods shot my smallest group off bipod .174 with 130 hybirds other day..use 450 primers and the Ruag srp magnums work very well in my rifles..good luck and have fun

My wife's 260 likes 139 Lapua scenars (yes, they're old) over a stout load of N150. Prints very tight groups. When she was shooting F class I bought a few thousand of those bullets and a couple of spare Shilen barrels.
Important to keep the wife happy.

Great Cartridge
I built one and sold it -Only because I was offered what I had into it and it shot 1/3 MOA at 600 yds
1:8 is the right twist
My best accuracy came from 153.5 bergers
I have not tested 156 Bergers but hear they are even better
147 Eld-M's are cheaper for fun practice, but not quite as consistently accurate as the Bergers
I would DEF get some 142 SMK's and test,
-------------
I will build another, very fun cartridge
-------------
IMR or H-4350 or AA2700 were my best powders with the better average going to 4350
(1-2 grains less powder when using AA-2700 in mine vs 4350)
only reason for using 2700 vs 4350 is Ball vs Stick

Was this a custom freebore reamer? I feel like 153.5 bergers would be in the case pretty far. Thanks for the information

Yes, I spec'd out a reamer for Manson to grind for me
.060" freebore
This was so I could get close to or reach the lands with a COAL of 2.800"
--------
This freebore seemed to work perfectly with the base just above neck/shoulder jct.

Wonder if a oal optimized for the use of the 2.960" no binder mags would be close to a creedmoor.

I dont know, I thought the 260 was a longer case then Creedmoor
base (308 vs 22-250)
2.960 would leave little left in the case - may work best for the 156 Berger if you are loading OAL that long
---------
Edit:
I just measured a 6.5 Creedmoor with 140 Eld-M
OAl is 2.693"
