In my humble opinion. If there were a way to make money in this small niche someone would be doing it domestically. I don’t claim to know all things about this business, but I’m betting that the answer is far more simple than people want to believe. Conspiracies, fun as they are, are rarely true.

It is that simple. Ammo companies are in the business to make money, ammo is simply the mechanism. I worked in R&D for years and the first step when initiating a new project was to estimate the economics; we were judged by the contribution to profitability. It's not as easy as flipping switches and turning knobs. Otherwise there is no company, no jobs.

My landlord for my shop for instance, spent $60k on solar
Why?
to save on PG&E
I asked him how much his monthly PG&E was
He said about $800
I asked then
How long before you just recoup your $60k and break even again?

He stopped and stared at me as if he never even gave it a thought, didnt answer,
turned around and walked away mumbling something about his wife

I mean Hey, if you guys want Match ammo, I'll make ya match ammo
but I aint forking out my dough to wait 10 years just to break even and have the same amount of money I had in the beginning.
There's quicker ways to gain a return on investment

Yes, the bean counters can construct the worksheet templates containing all of the variables. But they lack the knowledge to fill in the blanks.

wow, I started buying bricks of us 22 rimfire whenever I could get them cheap. not match quality, but good stuff, WW, remington. I sure wish I had a brick or two of mohawk or ted williams!!

Yep, this reminds me of some people waiting years and years to take retirement from whatever plan they may be in. I know everyone is in a different situation but....not taking approx 45K or 35k a year for three years, takes a loooong time to get that money back even w increased monthly payout. Took me forever to get my GF to snap on that situation. She finally believed when some of her 'smart' GFs told her same things....
