What’s the Difference Between a Shouldered Pre-Fit and a Barrel Nut Pre-Fit for a Savage?

I don’t know where you’re at in this process, if you’re too far down the savage road to turn back, or maybe you’re content with them?

If you’re not committed to savages, now’s a great time to pivot to something else, and keep the prefits. Several better receivers take prefits. Just a thought.

IMHO, quit the opposite sir. I have 100% peace of mind with the Savage PTA and what all can be done with it. It keeps me from spending more than I need to on custom actions and achieving the same accuracy. It fits my budget a lot better too. Just my .02 cents.

If we're going to start down THAT road, colors are NOT the way to distinguish Loc-Tite products. But that's a topic for a new thread if someone wants to start it.
Better check the product code numbers.
Which color turns blue if you put copper solvent on it?

If you’re happy with them, go for it, I was just offering an alternative. If you’re happy with a single shot and that trigger. I’ve done my savage thing for quite a while. They shoot. Certainly not trying to offend.

I agree I have 2 Nucleus and a Origin, love them. Not sure how many Savage's and I'm fond of them also.1 more day of traveling before I'm home from a pdog trip. Urbanrifleman's barrels slayed those critters using a barrel nut. Nothing but .223 in heavy wind, 53vmax.

I just did one of mine for a swap out . Mapp gas pencil flame on the
nut. When the temp gun reads 500 degrees your good to go. Brake-
Clean to clean up after.
Nice going Fuj. Keep it up and You could become a good Millwright! Oh,Wait:)

Here is the thread. All 25 pages.

I would make further comment, but I'll just leave the thread to the reader.
Wow, it’s been 2 years since I did that “test”. The OP should go back and read it.
While it might have been a case of of “I I did it because I can”, the info garnered did answer some important questions, not only for others but for myself.

In today’s world of “speculation”, sometimes you just have to break down and do it, so to speak.

One of the reasons I bought an arc action was because I could use my existing savage barrels
Now I only have one barrel nut barrel left, use a Barloc setup on it so only a spanner wrench, Allen wrench and go gauge needed to swap it on.

You sir, did a wonderful thing. I think. You are some kind of machinist.

Same applies for working over a Remington these days. Silly. Too many good customs starting at $750 to mess with factory receivers. Mack Bros ;)
