Bottom Metal Inletting

Has anyone here had a Remington ADL or BDL insetted stock converted to a M5 bottom metal inletting. If so, who did the job and would you recommend them for another project? I have a McMillan HTG that is ADL inletted and would like to have it changed.

While some other companies with "Badger" in their name have closed, Badger Ordnance, the manufacturer of precision rifle components, remains in business.

Their website is up and functional as far as I can tell.

If you're hesitating on Badger, contact River's Bend Gun Co. Jeff was usually working for GAP and Marty in the beginning and does this inletting:

McMillan would be my first contact. They still inlet that model. I have a couple of new McMillan flat top stocks that they won't inlet. I was hoping you would get a lot of suggestions to your question.

$185 plus shipping both ways. It would be more economical to sell the stock that I have and order a new one with the M5 inletting.

Badger is still in business. Rivers Bend is the outfit that I had heard had closed. Their web site is still up but they have never answered their phone when I have called. That doesn’t give me a warm fuzzy feeling about them.

Sorry, I just checked my notes. $50 was for inletting the barrel channel for a HV contour. The stock was already inletted for M5. And, it was more like 12 years ago (how time flies).

I came up with this one for a manual milling machine and rotary table to get the angles:

This was the result using an ADL stock.

Here are the options that I have located and their charges for the service.
McMillan $185
Badger $175
Long Rifles Inc. $200
All of the above are plus shipping both ways. At this point it doesn't seem to be a viable option to convert a stock to the M5 inletting. It would likely be more sensible to order a new stock with the desired inletting.

Slow and go with a Dremel is cheap. I have never done a full ADL that way but opening up a BDL to M5 is a fairly simple operation.

Ive done a few manually in my mill. Its been cringeworthy every time and I will not do one again. I had the stocks already or it would have never happened. Sent one off once and it came back worse than my manual attempts.
Cant remember who but there is a bdl cut replacement M5 bottom metal out there. I have not seen it personally but have a friend who ordered one.

You would think someone with a CNC router would be hammering these out and be covered up in work.

Most of the DBMs I've done have been HS Precision or Wyatts. They fit a standard BDL inlet and are better built than Badger/clones and AI mags.
